  • Maybe when the monsters bite them you know how marllena popped maybe that's how they get the slusho put for the monster directly

  • Wow. Awesome theory! This might be nitpicking, but he (Hud) is bitten in half. His insides could have been slurped out, but it would not be similar to the soldier's injury (all intact, hole in gut).

  • god your observant

  • and the slusho slogan is something like you can drink more than 6

  • Best theory i've seen

  • Thank you all for such great comments. I appreciate your thoughts and other possibilities. Lol I don't want to write for Hollywood but they could give me a critic job, I can do a way better job than those who critic a movie based on personal opinion and not the nature of the movie.

  • Hi,

Greatest theory - if it's not what's happened, I'm betting this theory will be used for the sequel! My friend, you should write for Hollywood!

  • Wow, this is a great theory. I never really saw it like that until now. I'll have to consider this next time I watch it. thanks.

I am sad that Hud died. He was my favorite. His myspace blogs always made me smile.

  • i think this is the stupidest threory but i bet its so true cuz hud talked about in the sewers that he thot they were trying to take him to "their queen"

  • It seems a really clever theory, but personally I'm totally dismissing the whole Slusho thing; the movie seems too serious for it to be based around that, and why does a drink company have a satellite?

  • If you research, the Japanese Oil Co. owns Slusho. So it's not Slusho's satellite. If you piece together everything I said and the viral marketing, it makes sense.

  • wow dude, that is an awesome theory, i hadnt even thought about that before. have you been on the tidowave website yet? because i found comments from people using the usernames "Jason Hawkins" and "R.Hawkins". Jason is talking about some incriminating files being missing whereas Robert (or who i believe to be Robert) speaks of how he bought a Slusho t-shirt without realising what the company did, therefore maybe Rob was never going to work for them at all or something

  • You hit very well on a few things I was wondering about. Rob, Hud and Beth's copter in specific going down, the monster specifically choosing Hud, chewing him up and spitting him out, so on and so forth.

Great video. I wouldn't be surprised at all if you end up hitting the nail right on the head when the inevitable sequels start coming.

  • GREAT video...5stars

  • interesting idea. i never saw the movie in this perspective so this is definately something il think about next time i see it

  • Thank you!! I saw the movie for more than just a monster movie. I looked beyond the monster focused on the characters.

    I appreciate it!!!

  • Do anybody knows if rob is flying out to japan to be VP of slusho? or is it for tagruato? Shouldnt that become rob a heavy consumer then? And i believe that the military guy exploxed just like marlena did because he got bitten from the little creatures not because the creature.

  • He was going to be the VP of Tagruato. Most executive and executive teams do not eat/drink their products. Not when they know the secrets of what's in them.

  • Really smart. I wouldn't've spotted that in a million years.

I can just see it in a few years time when 'Cloverfield 2' is about to be launched, after months and months of secrecy about the plot: the producers find your theory on the net. "F*ck!"

  • For a second I thought you were going to say that the monster ate Hud because Hud was the one with the camcorder... The soldier back at the medical station (or whatever that was) I believe was bitten by one of those parasites, like Marlena, and the bites contain something that causes the victim to explode. That's why you can hear in the background "It's another bite!" after Marlena starts bleeding. It's a very well-thought out theory though, anything goes at this point XD

  • I thought that to about the marine...until I saw he had no other bleeding like Marlena. It's hard to say about at that this time, maybe they'll do a military perspective since they all have camcorders on their helmets. Not seeing Hud's or Marlena's body, or what happened to the marine leaves a lot to wonder what's really going on. Not being able to see everything leaves many questions.

  • I just viewed some clips of Hud being "eaten" by the monster, and if you look very closly, when the camera falls out of the monster's mouth, you can see Hud's legs hanging out of it's mouth, so I think they don't show his lower body because his legs get chewed off D: But who knows. I'm also hoping that they do a marine perspective, but until then, I'm going to try to see this in theaters one last time before its gone ^^

  • Haha, I said marine instead of military. Oops. :P

  • After watching the film again....and again I must you are right about the bite. It makes sense when Marlena blew up like an over-filled balloon. It also makes sense b/c it says in the viral campaign that everyone has a different effect from the sea-weed. And I did notice that Hud was bit in half so i'm thinking the monster ate is stomach area and not his upper torso. Good call!

  • do you think the monster was following the chopper because it was hurt and needed the slusho ingredient from hud.

  • No. The monster was never hurt. It was annoyed and ticked off so it lunged at the chopper to bring its prey down. The monster never showed signs of injury, just that it's really really mad.

  • Thank you! The main reason why I thought of this theory was why didn't the monster eat Rob or Beth in Central Park? I thought about it, read info about the "back story", then came to this conclusion; watched the movie again and the evidence was really clear.

  • wow man i cant believe noones noticed this before i remember all those scenes but never thought about why hud was always the main focus of the monster. also why didnt the monster eat rob or beth when they were right there yelling to him it kept its focus on hud.

  • I think you're completely right and am really impressed by your keen sense of observation. Throughout the movie, there wasn't a scene wherein people are actually being consumed (as in totally swallowed) by the smaller monsters or spawns. The scene where the soldier's insides are missing and the one wherein Hud was kind of regurgitated and wasn't wholly eaten strongly supports your theory.

  • Interesting perspective, i never really thought about it like that. Makes sense though..adding on to your theory you think the monster might be searching for people who consume slusho for power? I remember during the viral markting on the slusho site that the nectar caused tiny fish to grow into huge whales supposedly.

  • I don't think it's searching for power. I think that it's searching for animals that have consumed this nectar for nutrition. I.e why sharks only eat certain meats. I think these people smell like the nectar and it's homing in on that smell. The fish into whale dream looks like an explanation of how this creature grew over those thousands of years it's been alive. It eats animals with that nectar in it's system and eventually grows larger as it evolves from the effects of this nectar.
