I think Momiji tries really hard to understand why his mother didn't want to try, why she gave up so easily, and I don't think he's angry at her. Momiji wouldn't want anyone to hurt his mother, you all know that. I think deep down inside, he hopes that one day she will accept him, and I think that wish helps him persevere.
