damn, I was gonna see if i should pick up a 4870 x2 for 75 bucks from ebay...I sold my 5970 to buy school books so I am stuck with my 4850 and trying to play Crysis 1 on high 1080p is sad. I have looked at reviews but I wanna see how it does with modern drivers.

If it needs at least 20A on +12V it won't work with 18A. But you can try, if the PSU can't run the card it just won't work and won't harm anything.

Yes but 4870 X2 is a monster GPU. If you have a quad core at 3,5GHz+ then it doesn't bottleneck 4870 X2 on 1680x1050.

what can i do to make mines go faster, i have the 9950 phenom black edition with 4Gb Gskill ram. A sapphire hd 4870x2 and 800watt ps. The mother board is geforece 7050M. i plug both the power line into the two power connecter and i dont know if we supose to use both or just one of them. My fps is soo slow it seems like my 9800Gt 512mb runs faster on very high. hd 4870x2 ran slower on very high.

It's your CPU. A friend of mine had around the same performance as you on his Q6600 (2400). Overclocking it to 3200 gave him a nice 5-10FPS boost.

in GPU test average FPS was around 23-24. Without OC It was 3-4 FPS lower. If I could clock CPU to 3,2-3,4GHz then I probably get around 30 FPS average.

Woah that seems pretty bad man, my friend gets 40FPS now at 33FPS before his overclock. Are you sure you have the latest drivers, 8.10, and did you install them cleanly?

I don't have a 4870x2 yet, (getting a new rig in about 2 weeks), but there are various settings that you can change in the control centre, specifically "Catalyst A.I". Try toggling that around, see if you get any better framerates.

that's because 4870x2 has 1024MB per GPU (there are two of these inside). All games and applications are seeing two GPU-s with 1024MB.

I've had an Antec Trure Power for over a year now and it will still run my PC 24/7 for years and it will still handle my old 4000+ at max load when writing music in Cubase for hours and hours. I haven't really heard anything about the Corsair PSU's but I do know that the thermaltake's are to big to put in my Antec P180.

The lower antec trios are good. like the 430/550/and650. But the higher ones are outsourced to 3rd party companies and are nowhere near as good. Corsair is excelent check them out. And who told you the toughpower wouldn't fit in your case? they should fit fine

Crysis testing, isnt real testing, the game is poorly coded, and they give up on fixing it, but with Crysis warhead this changed the Eng and stream lined the coding, you should get 70fps high with warhead on a 8800GT with 20in screen. so with high end cards i think i'll get 50 fps veryhigh.

lol my bad but 90 percent of benchnmarks for this card were dx9 hacks so i was already frustrated be4 watchin lol. if you get a better moniter u will get more fps with this card, for example i saw a vid where a dude had on 1920 by 1080 and he was gettin 30 fps average with the same settings (except resolution duh lol) only one core of it works until u crank up res. nice vid tho and if u ever turn up the res. let me know cause i am subscribin and givin u 5 stars!!!!

But I think that these both cores are working on every resolution. Example Trubritar (I hope you know him lol) got 30 FPS average on exactly same settings on DX10.

There is another problem with that card (or with something else).

both the cores dont turn on until the res and aa is cranked up it seems because i see only like 30 fps on this card on like 1680 res. but on a 1980x1080 with 16xaa it still gets 30 fps.
