Rogers said that it was not in proper financial shape and decided to pull the plug on the system. CKVU Vancouver, CKEM Edmonton and CKAL Calgary will cease operations, while CHMI Winnipeg is being sold to Bell Media and will transition to become a CTV Two station. CITY Toronto will become an all-news station with some lifestyle programming during the morning and afternoon as well as infomercials at late night.
It made money when it was bought by Rogers, but suffered from economic difficulties which resulted in several layoffs. It never recovered and is now folding. Haven't you checked out the article at the CBC website?
@daamits This is obviously a hoax. I mean...really? It's October 2 now and the whole Citytv system is still intact, alive and well. Plus, the new CityNews Channel debuts on Rogers Cable in the GTA tomorrow, too.
this was probably just months before citytv moved to 299 queen west--i remember from watching those old "rewind" episodes on CP24 that the last "citypulse" assignment desk at 99 queen east had a whole mish-mash of stuff in the background...
It just dawned on me that a new decade brings a loss from Citytv. Glen Cole in 1990, Colin Vaughan in 2000 and Mark Dailey in 2010. Eerie

@daamits Why did they even bother buying City TV in the first place if it wasn't making any money?
