  • Break, Eject? Eject, Eject? D:

  • any news if this will ever come to pc? Something like this would do great with this steam summer sale thing. I got here because of the SS game you are developing.

  • @FreekyMage Thanks! It's still possible, just hasn't happened yet. The new Serious Sam Double D we're making is similar but different, and coming to PC. But yes, I'd love to bring WoC to PC, just a matter of development time and fitting it in.

  • For an idie game, this kicks ass,it could be an arcade game, that's how good it is,and it;'s worth 400 points=5 bucks

  • I have just recently hear of this. Looks interesting.

  • If the game wasnt 400 MSP Id definitely buy it. but it is & thats too expensive

  • nice game

  • looks awesome !

  • looks awesome

  • i always wondered why the art in this game was so strange, i guess its because its hand drawn

  • Just a question if you don't mind answering. You can even PM if you like. I'm developing a side scroller for XNA as well and would like to know if this game sold well. I have played it, it rocks, but on the indie game page it says you haven't even sold a thousand copies. This is disheartening to see, especially when I look that a rumble app outsold you if this numbers are correct. Also, perhaps you should bring this to PC through Steam!

  • As of September 2009 Weapon of Choice has sold over 10,000 copies at 400 MS Points. Check out the MBG dev log for more info!

  • So the C64 chiptune has nothing to do with this game?

  • Not sure if that was rhetorical, so I'll answer just in case:

The music is all original and created with real guitars and synthetic drums. The music is saved as wave files and played back via the xbox 360.

  • > "Not sure if that was rhetorical"

Nope, it wasn't, I was listening to some chiptunes (SID files) and there was among others one with the filename "Weapons_of_Choice.sid". And since most of these chiptunes are not self-composed but simply ripped from some old Commodore games, I thought that this 360 game may be a remake of the C64 game which music I was listening to.

Seems like I was wrong and that in fact there was never a C64 game with this name. Therefore, sorry for my dumb question.

  • > "as wave files"

But presumably compressed as a MP3 or similar?

  • No, these are fat wav files, but a little downsampled (44k to 22k to save space).

I use Goldwave to work with the files. Most of the songs are around 5 MB, 22kHz, PCM 16 bit, and stereo.

  • these types of games never go out of style

  • i played Trial Version.Nice game! METALSLUG+CONTRA!

  • lol. Death Metal soundtrack... just like Contra had.

Game looks nice ! I'll give it a try

  • hard game but epic game

  • interesting!

  • whats this band and song called i REALLY REALLY like it. is it in the game or is it from a band if its from a band i would like to know i learned you other vids song on guitar it was so fun! id like to know that song too

  • The musician's name is Hamdija Ajanovic. He created the music specifically for Weapon of Choice. The song here is called Choose Your Weapon.

  • "shakes your hand" this game is FUCKIN AWESOME DUDE! :D ive been playing the demo all day and today i downloaded it dude this game is good :)

  • Just purchased this game on XBL and it's great fun and just plain awesome great work guys.

  • I played the trial and loved it just a shame i couldn't play the first level all the way through :/

  • I played the trial version, I enjoyed it alot, this game is badass, I am gonna buy it next time I get microsoft points.

  • i downloaded the demo i love just playing the demo

  • This just came out, and it's crazy! Kind of like the product of a three-way between Contra, Smash TV, and a random Amiga game. I haven't played too much of it yet, but it's promising so far and I hope it holds up through repeated play.

  • This looks like it could be the killer XNA launch title. Looking forward to trying it out!

  • Well Nathan I'm buying this game in about 2 minutes cause i already want part 2...and to get that i have to support this..but this is what i want in part 2....Local Co-Op! get to work!

  • Looks great. A homage and parody at the same time. Will be buying it :D

  • congrats Nathan... you two are the most impressive winners of DBP from my perspective. good luck with WOC!

  • CONGRATS MAN

  • Congrats on your 3rd place win, man! I knew you had placed once I sent you a msg and you didn't respond ;)

  • The hand drawn part made me laugh..

  • I agree, that is pretty funny... it makes it sound like we originally had robots doing the art, but it just didn't work out.

'Hand-drawn' in our case is meant to convey that when the game is rendered the image you see is made from camera-facing textures--the art in the textures is more prominent--rather than lots of small bits of polygons with only small portions of textures to render.

  • Looks like the next-generation Contra game, which means it's gonna kick ass

  • saaqwed

  • Really nice, guys! Can't wait to see the finished product!

  • I can't wait to play, and have my kids play, and their kids play, and so on and so on and so on...This will be a game for the ages.

  • I found you guys on the XNA creators club site, and just thought I'd post that this game looks like it's going to be really kick ass. I too am trying to get on XBLCG, so I wish you guys the best of luck!

  • This trailer looks amazing! A 2D side-scrolling action game with hand drawn art... Very nice.

  • Excellent job Nathan! This will be the best XBOX Arcade game ever! I'll definitely buy it!

  • Looks awesome. Can't wait to play.

  • id play this....o wait....

  • This looks really good; I especially love the parallax scrolling. I'll definitely check it out on XBLCG.
