Ya this is well used route. That being said we saw only 1 canoe, and 1 fishing boat the whole time. We rarely see more than a moose, the occasional bear - we're probably too loud as we talk a lot, joke around and stuff, so we miss out.
Imagine less garbage the further you go in - there are probably easier accessed areas which are visited more often, and harder places to get to, which are visted less and more pristine. I would seek out those most pristine spots. But I don't have anyone to do this with!
Are there seldomly visited areas deep in the backcountry? Or is pretty much all of Temagami accessible and often visited? Would you feel more nervous about going further in and away from civilization? The further away from civilization I would go the more nervous - and excited - I would become!
Real shame about the trash - you would think that people who are interested in, and make the effort to go, that far back in wilderness, wouldn't be the type to be leaving trash behind - that REALLY upsets me when I see it in the Adirondacks - where I usually go (largest wilderness I have easy access to with time limits)

Portaging sucks but it's one of those things you accept when you take these things on!

You ever concerned / worried about leaving gear behind and coming back and finding a bear tearing into your food?
