I like this song, but I don't think it would have fit well on Accelerate. It's too slow. I do think that they should have included Staring Down the Barrel of the Middle Distance.
recently both Michael and Peter have stated in interviews and at shows that they hope to get into the studio and start working on the next album in the spring, and that some fo the tracks that didn't make it to "Accellerate" are still in the running to make it to the next album.
I'm so disappointed that this song isn't in the list of ones ones on the album can you imagine my feelings when it's not on the album at all. Still my favourite from Dublin, though from listening from the alley I cannot believe why it's not on the new album - it's the definitive new track. GD
Its sounds like form around the sun but even this record included the final straw which i think is one of their better songs. I am fanatic with REM and i like this very much
I'm in love with this song already. It touched me in a way that only R.E.M. have done before. This one really shows the nature and pure talent of Michael. It's so beautiful. Specially the second half of the last verse is incredible.

But I still think this song holds up well amongst the most beautiful and emotional songs that REM have written, namely Nightswimming, At My Most Beautiful, Country Feedback and I'll Take the Rain. Looking forward to the new album - really hope they tour with it.
both reveal and ATS is great records, but just not good enough for the REM "standard" and therefor they both failed to satisfie me, this song is very reveal/ATS like, and therefor it's not great, but it have potential.

I just don't like the sound of ARTS, not the songs. Pat McCarthy's production wasn't good for those 2 albums. In fact when they played ATRS live the songs sounded better. This change of direction, a return to early days it's the right thing to do: I.R.S. albums, listened today, reveal a sound that it's not old, and beautiful and modern songs. They invented a sound in the eighties that was in advance for the times (in fact they were not completely understood) but now is perfectely actual
I don't agree with feedbackinhibition - I heard it in the alley on night 4 and in the theatre on the first night, and I think it's one of the most beautiful songs Michael has ever written - it makes me cry. Please put it on the new record. What a brave thing REM have done over the last few days, singing unfinished songs in front of an audience - thank you.
yeah, it also reminds me of something left offa the " reveal " album. but thats totally not a bad thing. i loved " reveal ". love this song !

I agree that this is my least favorite of the new songs. I can't believe this might make the record but Man Sized Wreath may not. A big mistake.

This song was around from the "Around the Sun" sessions. It's a nice song but I personally perfer "Until the day is done".
Reveal is an amazing record!
