I call them stealerships. You are better off saving your money for a few months then go to an auction. Yes you take a risk but as long the physical appearance of the vehicle is satisfactory how bad could it possible be. Just stay away from flood or rollover damages and plan to pay another 3000 in repair. At the end of the day you will have already owned the vehicle and can go at your own pace. My friend just bought a 2006 nissan maxima for $4000 and only paid $3000 extra to restore it.
@Hotrodrogers91 guess what. When you drive of the lot with your 40,000 benz. it will be worth 29,000. and you know what the messed up part is down the road at the certified used car lot is selling the same benze with 10,000 miles on it for 25-30000. you think someone can tell the diffrence from a new car and a used car with 10,000 miles.
@hopperflowers I'd say never let your guard down! Do all the research (pricing!!warranties!! consumer reviews!!) on EACH car you plan on looking at. If you find one you haven't seen before, be prepared to take your time and research before purchasing. Also use a site like carmax . com or something similar to calculate your payments and gauge your credit if you are financing. If you're paying cash, feel free to NEGOTIATE as much as possible!
Whats wrong with going to a dealership and looking despite whether or not a person has the ability to purchase a car? When I'm just looking, I let the salesman know upfront. This save me the sales pitch and his/her valuable time to talk to someone who is really going to make a purchase.
Browsing cars on the internet does not satisfy my curiosity about a particular model that attracts my attention.
I'd like to chime in. Personally speaking, I don't really need a salesman any longer. They waste my time. I'd prefer for the dealer to just list the best price, I come in for a drive, get my own financing then come get the car. I frequently browse the net. However, a lot of people are still uneducated about the experience. A 10% APR is high, but I've seen higher. Kids are kids, they do dumb stuff. I think buying a car or house should be like buying an apple. Too many people get involved now.
Why do I feel like I've been "sold" to actually give the car salesman the benefit of the doubt, to actually give me a fair deal.... Why does there have to be so much fine print ? Leave it out and be straight forward with the deal... Is it hard to be a sales consultant and actually counsel someone into a car they can afford?... If I were the salesman I'd run through their monthly expenses to see how much money they had to spend and go from there... I would feel good about myself afterwards...
I like the video - good stuff. BTW, what's your take on a service like USAA offers for military folks - where once you select the car you want, the they will do all of the dealing?
Thank you thank you. I think the USAA financing is GREAT. USAA, Costco, all the CUs do great work. They make the job easier for the customer to get in and buy the vehicle. At times they MAY not be able to beat the rates honestly, but 9/10 times they get better rates/terms than dealers. They also assure you are not purchasing a car way out of your league. More greedy dealerships hate them because they take the extra "markup" dealers put on new and sometimes used cars.
I thought your video was excellent. You spoke well, you had command of the subject manner.. it was straight forward.... and it gave the other side of the coin. To often we hear about the consumer.... and we forget that there is a person working for a living trying to make a sale. Yes there are good and bad... but like you said... come in with a clean slate.. and get a clean slate. Excellent job. I rate it 5 stars, Very informative. This video should be mandatory for perspective buyers.
all your points were good except for getting pissed off about people coming and looking if you like to sale cars and don't like customers than do wholesale its what my dad did for 27 years he didn't like making sales to individuals so he did actions and delt with car dealers. he however now he actually runs a junk yard since adesa(?) bought all the near auctions and ran them into bankruptcy
I say up front to the sales men when I'm not buying sometimes I'm looking at a new model i like
I hear you. Some of my family does wholesale which works for them. I do the e-bids sometimes. My tire-kicker frustration is with those who are completely not looking to buy. I think most salesmen would prefer they don't come to the main floor or ask questions if they aren't interested.... often times management is watching wondering why the "customer" didn't buy and "just lookin" is foreign to them.
Well I think in any line of work bosses are often assholes and sometimes you find a good boss.
But I think they should know if someone came to look at the new Nissan GTR or the Corvette ZR1 or something that most people who look obviously can't buy. or even the new mustang or challenger you get the idea.
sorry my comment on the other vid was a little rude its just from my point of view first thing outta your mouth was don't come and look haha
My dad was a salesman most of his life...Real estate...Cars, then time share .....He always told me the best and easiest sale was another salesman....To be good you have to believe and feel good about the product and make the customer feel the same...The salesmen was the easiest because their personality would get pumped up on the sale...The better they are the easier the sale.
I kno alot about cars..... i werk on em 24/7
