I understand. The problem is that the reps are a bunch of radical ideologues and the dems are managers. Its Reagan who instiguated the 'moral' shift in american policies and because of that, debate on any issue has become absurd.

Again, unlike R Paul, i believe that the gov has a role in education and healthcare, but hes the only policitian i respect because his arguments are based on an interpretation of the constitution. Even if you disagree, you can move the country forward with this man.

I agree with you that the government ought to have a role in education and healthcare. I believe the issue is that R Paul does not want the FEDERAL goverment in charge of education,etc. He wants the states to deal with those issues as per his interpretation of the constitution.

Ron Paul is a pragmatist. He certainly would support ending federal involvement in education. But only because this represents one step toward a free market in education. What he ultimately supports is a market for health care as free as the market for restaurants, which is seen as a radical idea. This isn't hard to accept if you see the inefficiencies caused by government (rather than a "failure of the free market" as you hear parrotted). Free markets always drive prices down and quality up.
