@artucisify I think that would really change the meaning of the song though. Feet and fate is like the "mistake or design" part. If it was fate, then it would mean it was design, which she might not believe. Personally I like the word feet there but I don't really believe in fate so that's probably why :)
I understand then like the first line means that she is not scared from death and life, what goes with- we are born to die. But Im not good at this song meanings :D I always understand them different than they are supposed to be.
