I love the opening lines of this song! So perfectly expresses the dilemma of the new guy filling in someone else's shoes. John looks and sounds so lonely telling his story and then the song widens to include all of us-brilliant!
Elefante never ever got the credit he deserved. He's a great singer. He is still writing great music and singing it. Do yourself a favor and look him up. If you "just believe" is a great song.
the Kansas Vinyl Confessions album was like one of the first records I ever bought. I love it, still listen to it often, but I got a CD so I don't wear the vinyl out.
I also got to see this concert tour live at the Universal Amplitheater. I was fortunate to know the Elefante Family growing up. We always knew John and his brother Dino would one day make it! The Lord Jesus lead the way! Amazing song and always my favorate.
No way I was there also in 1983 Concert under the stars. I still have my T-Shirt from the concert and I never wore it. Its still brand new LOL. Right where Universal Studios is. Damn What a small world and if it was steve or elefante they ROCKED both ways. I'm so glad I grew up when CONCERT'S were CONCERT'S.
I dont much care for classic rock anymore, but there is no denying these guys were spot on when it came to harmonies. Their backup vocals are as good as any around.....
TOTALLY one of my favorite songs from the Elefante era! This concert was once on late-night television.. I taped it, and it was my first ever glimpse of Kansas in concert! I've been a major fan of theirs since childhood! And I'm SO thankful that this band is still around! Thanks guys! And thanks for uploading!
I saw this exact concert in person in 1982, the actual date was July 30th, 1982 and it was in the Omaha Civic Auditorium. They broadcast the entire show for a radio program, and I've been carrying that tape around for 26 years now. Definitely a great show.
Hey, George! Hit me up! Thanks for taking me out the stagecoach!

This is John Elefante, the singer that replaced Steve Walsh, after literally hundreds of other singers auditioned. Good choice.

Awesome song! Elefante can really sing. No, it's not the Steve Walsh Kansas, but Vinyl Confessions was really a decent album. This is my Fave on VC.
