  • cool! what kind of foam of this project? styrofoam? xps foam?

  • were did you get the skulls?

  • i tried to make a pair of knuckle dusters with this method and it always forms a bubble at the top out of the sprues making the metal at the bottom harden giving me half a mold what should i do???

  • @19dma95 I haven't done any casting myself, but.... I see some people poke small holes down into the sand they say for "gas venting." They didn't say how far down, but maybe to the mold itself? Might help with your problem.

  • This looks so cool. Cant wait until my foundry is compleat. I just have to add the refractory thin its all done.

  • i have one question what kind of salt do you flux with

    and how much thanks

  • @WOLFaLARK ...I use Lite Salt...a mixture of sodium chloride and potassium chloride. Its best if you melt them together making a eutectic (sp) mixture and I use about 1-2 tablespons full per crucible load depending on how nasty the original scrap was.....Thanx

  • This is just loose, dry sand? Does the foam leave an immediate film to keep the sand from spilling in on itself, or what? I screw around with tamping green sand, but this looks way too easy.

  • @FJoeForty Yes FJoe, its simple DRY playsand, the foam vaporizes so fast the alum fills in and makes a excellent replica, I reuse the sand but after time the foam residue really can stink!

  • Looks like a good casting session!

  • @kwikkeys3 Thanks for watching... I hope to get more up soon..........

  • Pretty Awesome !!!How can I get one of those ?
