sounds to me like something might have happened when u used the Autodown just start from the beginning again, i never tried it with an iphone so i dont know how it works when u plug it into itunes

every time i try to click restore with the shift key it says that its gonna restore and then theres and error that pops up and i have to restore it to factory setting

just try using the auto down again cause u need that for your ipod/iphone to be able to use the restore. All I can say is just try the auto down again, u must have your ipod/iphone plugged in at the time and do it before you try to restore it.
