  • Its amazing how the gaming industry has made more money then the movie industry has made and guess what? The gaming industry has done that in under 2 years. :D

  • Sounds like you did not make it to top ranks xD. It also sounds like you need a new job.

  • gaming is nothing like what they show in frag nowwadays~

  • This is fucking ridiculous, Video games are an artform, if you dont think so then stop reading this comment and get the fuck off this page. That idiot at 1:10 saying pro gaming is the next step is a fucking idiot, in fact all this multiplayer hype is down grading games making the masses think thats all video games are about when in fact real games are so much more. fuck pro gaming, how the fuck can you have people making more money playing a game then the people who made the fucking thing.

  • @IGNsucks ofcourse do you consider books and movies to not be art as well cause if you do then maybe you're the idiot video games are like movies and books they have plot lines, twists great character development and everything needed to make a great story and also the guy at 1:10 is rightvideo games are already being shown on TV during MLGi have no doubt that in the future pro gaming will be considered a sportand being played on TV like baseball and football are being played today and finally

  • @MrPenguinGod yes book and movies are also art but videogames is at the top of the chain cause it combines everything. and Im not talking about Ted Price, Cliff B, Wreen Buffet, Kevine Levine......etc......whom are at the top and obvious earn more then a "pro gramer", im talking about the lower level guys, testers, QA. I doubt those people make more then a pro gamer which is pathetic cause theyre the ones developing the game.

  • @MrPenguinGod its fucking ridiculous, and I dont know if youve watched this video but it seems that the "profession" is hard to get into and usually unsuccesfull. he said it only 20 successful individuals. and secondly who the fuck what to watch someone else play a game, anyone who does this is pretty pathetic. but then again they're are millions who only watch sports and dont play them which is still soemthing that makes no sense to me.

  • @IGNsucks the gamers who win the tournaments dont make more money than the creators the creators make money off of every purchase of their game where as the winners of these tournaments receive e X ammount of cash in order to truly make a living as a pro gamer you have to be winning next to every tournament

  • @MrPenguinGod everytime someone asks me what sports i like and i say hockey their next fucking question is always which team to you like and i say none the absolutly am bored by NHL, i want to play hockey not watch some over payed athelete to play it for me.

  • Pro gamers make pro gaming sound cool because they want to grow the sport. I remember when i was a kid hearing about this, now that im 14, watched the movie FRAG, my mind is now FULLY blown away. I mean i knew it wasn't possible to completely make a living but damn, even for the people who are damn good, its difficult to live, people who actually win. If you were interested enough in pro gaming and ended up watching FRAG, then it didn't hurt those dreams, it actually made it bigger.

  • you're better off getting a job, playing games for fun, and having some money in your pocket

  • @theycallmejpj Why would you settle for that...you could get good friends in the business and you wouldn't be doing something you didn't love and letting skills just be there for when you get to your pc.Kids still dream of pro gaming because normal lives are boring..but then financially you are better off doing that ;) (just saying) personally though i defiantly would take being a pro, though it wouldn't be smart to go out being pro,you still can play competitive for a while and have fun with it.

  • everything is difficult in the begining, people where not even considering using a computer in their business back in the 90's, gaming is fun, everybody dreams of having a fun job, thing is the fun does stop when you realy get into pro gaming. it's gonna be a job, soon, but a difficult one

  • FPS users are not pros, except a couple teams in Korea. The only game with true professionals are Starcraft players.

  • @SadegoGG There the professionals that get treated like professionals.. FPS users are pro, you just not controlling units like in starcraft, more like controlling yourself to win, its just different, for now we just gotta say PRO GAMING instead of each individual game, but then saying pro gaming instead means you got to be able to adjust to other games, so fps is pro gaming.. i would say MMORPG or puzzle games are not pro(just saying, its more like getting high score that actual competition.

  • @mustardman32

WOW at one time had a larger professional scene than any FPS game has ever had. Also, FPS does not have any professional players. First of all, there is very little skill in an FPS compared to a real game. Second, the only FPS that has pro gaming houses and tournaments with prize money worth consideration is a no name FPS played in Korea (I can't even think of the name of it right now. And no, its not COD or CS). Third, FPS players cannot even support themselves on the games.

  • @SadegoGG Hm.. well im just stating my opinions, personally i loved WoW(im not going back to it) as a fun game with friends, and i heard gamers talking about WoW as a pro game, but i felt like it wasn't so possible, then again i only played until level 20...and FPS has fatal1ty, stermy, and a BUNCH more, its just the majority is playing competitive instead PRO(pro gaming,-making a living solely from gaming) Korea is known only for RTS in gaming, or at least what i know. I agree with third, luk up

  • @mustardman32 FPS gamers dont make enough money to support themselves, but thats because of the media. The media see's any game, and any christian parent(over exaggeration, way over) see's FPS as a murder simulator. So business people in leagues, sponcers, and teams treat pro FPS gamers like teens,(i know they are..) while making adult choices. Plus, we gotta stop thinking there is a limit to skill, there is UNLIMITED skill in gaming, its just Koreans have fast fingers while being smart suntzu:P

  • is this film actual saying that its hard to be a profesional? how ground breaking is that. the guy talking is also an idiot. 20 people? there wouldnt be any tournaments if there was only twenty pro gamers who made money to live on. they seem to not ignore the fact that more people have crashed and burned in trying to be actors, musicians and sportsman than in gaming times 10million(rough estimate) so please stop complaining about something just because you dont understand it.

  • @monkeyman9119 Late reply, but the entire point of the FRAG movie is to uncover the the dark side of gaming. Sponsors/leagues/teams and businesses know that they can exploit gamers because they are kids. They literally look for kids in tournaments who look like they're 12 years old and sponsor them with a laughable amount of money( virtually nothing) ESPECIALLY console-gamres. Those who are considered progamers have very difficult lives. Only a few have comfortable lives. cont...

  • @monkeyman9119 It's just that we see all the big names in gaming, so it' seems a bit more viable than it really is. Yes, I understand that in sports/acting/music and everything else it's not easy to just make it big, but it's shown to be a bit too easy... Again, corporations are exploiting "gaming kids" and they are fueling the gaming industry to make it what it shouldn't be so that they can make money.

  • @monkeyman9119 you need to see the movie.. also, with a society and people saying things like games are for kids, of course its going to be hard, seriously, watch the movie(i torrented it, im guilty, i now have to buy it) seriously though, its not like football, everyones going for it, and you just gotta have natural talent, training still works though.

  • american pro gaming is a fucking joke

  • very good concept.. it true that, assuming the best cs-team in the world gets 20.000 each.. thats what they iwll have to live on for a year IF they are first again next year...

  • @juggl3 yeah cause they only play one tournament........the ignorance of some people

  • Umm... "no shit"?

Everything is easy on it's own. Being the best at anything where there's a significant amount of competition is hard. I could be in the NFL if it wasn't for all those damn elite athletes...

  • downloading it now, rly looking forward to see it

  • I figured as much i was trying to watch wcg on sci fi and although i thought it was a cool idea. I saw that they were only using 360 which (everyone has there own opinion, respectively) just tells me that its just advertising. The best games in some peoples opinion are on ps3. If they we using both it might have flew beneath my radar lol. I'm gonna go pick up that movie.

  • song at 2:00?

  • flyers by nine leaves

  • In the end... sports, e-sports, its all about the money for the big companies.

  • You just have to be realistic. It's the same as with other professional sports, you have to be extremely comptetitive to live off of your sport, and most of your life will be dedicated to being performant.

  • Yeah, spot on - not everyone's going to be a Premiership footballer, are they?

For the thousands and thousands of players playing in their local teams; for their pubs; in the mud and cold... it's simply about the playing - not the fame and success, which only goes to a few.

I'm not sure if this is entirely a case of big money exploiting this - or young egos not understanding the reality of their situation.

  • kid at 1:42-1:43, is'nt that the WoW addict that you could see in the news? The same one thats 'popular' on YT

  • good video. i saw frag too it made me sad.

  • Tbh, everyone looks to the MLG for professional gaming, but it's not the only place to further your gaming 'career'. I'm in the UK, and we as UK players could also choose to play MLG, but now with the advancement of the i Series, it gives talented players a chance to get to the WCG and also hosts its own cash prize games like Halo 3 & Counter Strike Source being examples. In no way am I rippin' MLG, it's provided lots of talented players, but there are other places. I'm a big IronLady fan tbh.

  • Major league gaming is wer the money is for pro gamers

  • Agreed. There are so many pro gamers which make a hell of a lot of money in south korea.

  • the "seedy underbelly" of the industry? lol... don't get all pissed off, it's just people trying to promote e-sports. the reason not many people can say they make a living off of it is because it's still up and coming and there aren't many sponsers. if someone is dumb enough to do nothing but play games and make themselves homeless, that's their issue. I'd say gambling is a thousand times worse as something that generates poverty.

also the author doesn't seem to realize south korea exists, heh

  • can u download frag? :o

  • Nope, you gotta buy it. Which is incredibly hypocritical, compared to the views of the filmmakers.

  • uhh, what?

  • umm why dont we talk about any small sport or even relativly big sports. for example swimming we all know about phelps but there are hundreds who give up there lives to swimming and get nowhere and struggle to pay billd but no the media doesnt bother with that just video games

  • what are you talking about?? you go to a gaming news media source and expect them to talk about swimmers?? maybe check a swimming magazine or podcast to hear about them small no name swimmers, i dont get what your comment was about, yes gaming media sources are gonna bother with gaming

  • what i ment is the media and people like the person who made this video and whoever made the movie frag have a go at people for advertsing pro gaming as a legitmate sport and that you can make money out of it. If phelps sstarted advertising swimming heavly no one would mind even though 99% fail in being olympic swimmers

  • ah, I get what you mean now

  • i saw FRAG yesturday.. its so sad

  • "esports shall remain an ideal"

  • well you could then go to india where u can pay them to lv up your wow characters. and say american dollar converting to indian dollar is a fair bit they have like buisness's and corperations with like over 100 employee's making a living off leveling up every1's wow characters LOL.

  • ARE U FKEN RETARDED?

  • for fun lol

  • fuck that just play for fun

  • it's funny how the yankys only talk about the hand full of pro gamers that make money. But they don't seem to talk about the dozens of 6 figure salary gamers in Korea> i don't understand.

  • there r only like 6-10 starcraft players that make that much money, the rest get pocket change. Wat this guy is saying is only a couple dozen gamers make enough money to sustain themselves, while thousands of others dnt make enough money to have it as their own carrier.

  • whats the song at the end?

  • "Flyers" by Nine Leaves

  • pfffft i would play games for hours and hours but forget doing it for money... if u loose at an early stage in a tournament then ur screwed.

  • Lol suma in a suit pffffffffffft

  • FRAG is an awsome movie. Just got it on DVD.

  • Get the fuck off EGs account, you GGL fucks.

  • i bought the dvd all thanks to this channel lol.

  • This aint EG!!

  • Hey, dude. EG is dead. didn't you watch the last 3 episodes?

  • I wanted to see the movie so bad, it's out on DVD, I will try to buy it soon!!

  • I miss EG!

  • you had your chance GGL! give it up!!!!!!

  • W00T! Counter-Strike! XD

  • quite an interesting video....SUMMA 4 the win

  • wait wait hold on a sec. is this still EG????

  • No it's GGC using the EG channel since it already has so many subscribers. STOP USING THE EG CHANNEL!

  • *edit* ggl

  • EG WE WANT THAT

  • k dont insult someone if they want to live with their mom if they like what they do then let them live their lives! u only live one time! ONE TIME!

  • w000t iv gota soulstone so i can just rez myself i mean im pretty 1337 so i can handle the rezsicknes so its cool

  • Yay GGL posers using the EG youtube channel.

  • I think people realise pro-gaming isn't a job, I think most just love the challenge.

Only the people that spend 10+ hours a day play a game to be the best get paid, and even then it's not that much.

  • Under 20 self-sufficient pro-gamers? Bogus stat there's easily more than that in Korea alone.

  • ya, i think the consensus is we all want our EG back.

  • Well of course pro gaming is still on the rise. As the sport gains popularity you will get the bigger contracts and sponsorships. Pro gaming isnt the only sport that has high risk, how many people try to become pro athletes and fail. ALot, so singleing out video games like this is pretty stupid. The video game industry is almost as big as the Movie industry and still growing. Once the stereotypes are broken and it gains popularity it will be known as any other sport.

  • nice you guys are back awesome 5*

  • holy shit it world famous robert summa, he still with ggl ?? i thought he left ggl ??

  • i think pro gaming is boring, i can watch someone paly games...just not for 3 hours, adn tehnw ehn teh camera switched i cant keep track of who im watching and whats going on, alls i know si their shooting, multiplayer gaems are only fun when you play them or youre at a friends house adn hes REALLY good.

  • Can't wait to see the movie because it's foolish to think there isn't a dark side to everything. And it is found in every competitive career. No one ever makes the documentries on the people who fail just the ones who got their big break and rose to stardom. And I scoff at anyone who thinks breaking into competitive stuff like this (or for me comics) is easy and doesn't require sacrifice. I don't game I work 2jobs and I hardly see friends because I concentrate on my artwork. Have what it takes.

  • I like it. There needs to be investigation into the practices of pro-gaming promoters and companies so they don't take advantage of people. As the money and pay increases eventually it'll make it's way into being at the same level as football and baseball. There was a time when you didn't make allot from those either.

  • Epileptic Gaming is on a "break" for the time being jus to let any1 no.

  • i want EG back

  • thanks for making a point that doesnt matter :D

  • eg have a show 2 nite.any 1 no??.cause it beezz thursdayyy. the sceduals so fucked up..past 8 million thursdays no shows :(

  • Pro Gamers Own... Not To mention i Be one of Them.

  • most people dont understand gaming, all people just assume they know all about it

  • and where can we watch the whole movie?

  • fuck u u dont need to put others dreams down

  • lifefilms: sure, have all the dreams you want. but it's not cool for business type people to be exploiting the dreams of young guys for a fast buck.

  • were can i see this movie at?

  • i feel sorry for the guy who is homeless

  • eG???

  • Go Summa Go!

  • SUMMA YA FAT CUNT.

  • EG FUCK YEA!

i been waiting for this for so long..

  • that would be sweet getting payed to play

  • summa! i pwn you in eoj

  • I love gaming but I don't think it would go into the category of a sport.

Pro gaming is sick and I'd love to see it grow but again, shouldn't be categorized as a sport.

  • zomg SUMMA!

  • YEAH SUMMA!@

  • Gaming is a hobby and that's the way it should stay. Maybe a few tournaments for fun but nothing serious.

  • how can you say that few people ake life a pro gamers when the majority of gamers in Korea for example make 100,000+ every year, that's good enough to make a decent living agreed? and outside of Korea there's plenty of people that win tournements and make 20k from one tourney and lets not forgot that most tourneys have runner up prizes up until 10th spot. True, it's difficult to be a pro gamer but it's nun more challenging then being a pro athelete

  • This isnt watchable. Anything made by GGL might as well be made by Hitler.

  • oh boo hoo i get to play videos for a living "its not fair i have to play video games and that KID HAS TO EAT DIRT COOKIES FOR BREAKFAST NOT FAIR!"

  • finally, been waiting for a vid from you guys quite a while

  • LUL DIDN'T GGL FIRE SUMMA? LOL LOL

  • SUMMA!!!!

  • get your own damn channel! this belongs to Epileptic Gaming!

  • meh not interested.

  • Someone calling themselves a "pro" at a game is just another way of them trying to make themselves look more important then they really are.

  • Good call out on the BS! +1!

  • what he said theres way they pros at gaming theres always someone better then you somewhere in the world aswell you may be good at one game then the other like FPS and then play a fighting game i myself then if they pros then im GOD or something cause i seems to win every game i play aswell online ??? lol really that just bullshit your good thats all nothing else.

  • There's no way to be a pro at gaming at all, not even in FPs's. Like in fighting games, you can still be beat by a person smashing the keyboard of their face.

  • Robert Summa

    Spokesman, GGL

    wasent his name:

    THE world famaous Robert Summa

You know how a pimp says his name LOL

  • Iknow that a team of im trying to get on gots pratice 3hrs a night sunday - thursday and bout to change are pratice time from 5-7 hours long sunday - thursday

  • Summa!!

  • This wasn't really a 'rant' more like an advertisement, but I'd support that, this is important.

Also what the fuck, why is this on the EG channel? I thought they closed that shitfest down?

  • i want to do this

  • Pro gaming? :o
