It was 1993 I was working on a temporary wildlife biology project in the midwest, still in college only about 21. I was staying with a married couple in their 30's. Mary was so hot and alluring and sexy. Tommy gave me this CD he got it somehow and didn't like it. My infatuation with Mary was deeply placed in my subconscious such that I was talking with Sue who was in her 50's and I fell asleep on the couch into a talking dream state where I talked about what I wanted to do with and to Mary.

Psy Furs have the last word in the post-punk-pop genre.

Its everything U2, Echo and The Bunnymen, Depeche Mode, The Fixx, et al sought to accomplish.

Personally, I thought they'd already achieved that in "The Ghost in You."

True b/ Depeche Mode isnt and was never post punk. Early stuff was great synth pop...but it became cheesy.

Furs achieved it early on (retrospect) with original version of PRETTY IN PINK. Punk grit & pure pop.

Only comparable band is Bunnymen. Amazing music, but always found Ian McCullouch too pretentious/ cool and far away as a front man. Richard is charismatic, & wins any day over him. But they had different approaches. Furs were more pop oriented

@spunkets Many of them somehow began to develop a more mainstream sound by the mid-80s, in hindsight this would be temporary but we didn't know it then, for a long long time other than DM and U2 the rest have virtually stayed underground where they began.

Saw these guys at the Ridgefield Playhouse in Connecticut a few weeks ago. I was screaming to have them do this tune - bummer. Fantastic show though. They also missed doing Ghost in You for an encore but I would pay to see them again. His voice is still spot on.

I loved this album World Outside was very underrated, my favorite furs album is their most hated and disliked the somber Book Of Days.. Ruchard Butler truly captures sadness world weary and wasted time on that album

I find it strange why they used the single version of this song instead of the album version, I know there's at least 3 versions of this song, there's the album version, this version is called the single version, there's also an extended version as well with a longer outro

I am not a singer or a song writer so I have not idea what it takes to write a song like this but all I know is that in today's music you cannot find lyrics and melodys like this anymore. When I hear today's music I feel very lucky to had the opportunity to enjoy bands like The Furs, Cure, Depeche Mode, Sundays, Joy Division, The Smiths and many others.

The new of 2day dont understand the greatness & quality of music of the 80's & 90's. Music has devalued, it has gone cheap & meaningless like many things that get ruined through the years. Now is about sex, drugs & just sell whatever comes out as long as it has bootie shaking & cash falling from the sky & bling. Im so happy that I had the privilege of being a kid in the 80's & 90's so I could relish with songs like this 1 that so beautiful.
