  • there is a much easier way to do this . with out destroying your pedals . there for if you dont like it you can remove it . this bloke has no clue and gives a shit demo

  • Thanks for sharing the vid! Where did you source your parts?

  • I just need someone to construct me a bar that goes between the pedals. I fucking lost mine somehow and it's depressing. :(

  • shit, my right pedal haven't got a base plate

  • @Question

whats the dif between a longboard and a shortboard???

  • @noconflictbanana basically, longer pedal for longer feet, but.... when your talking about heel toe technique a longer board seems to help regardless of foot size. i guess the same way that a larger lever (fulcrum) will give you more power for less work.

  • @noconflictbanana a long board is long and a shortboard is just smaller not that big of a difference!

  • fuck man would of never thought of this. I was thinking about welding heh, this makes it easier for my size 14 foot.

  • hey man, great idea!

Just wanted to let you know that I took your advice, used it on my Iron Cobra, and it works great! I was just about to start saving up for a actual longboard pedal for like over 600 bucks, but this works just as good! only took a couple hours to make, and only $20. Thanks a lot!

  • would this work with DW 2000's? cause i developed my own hell toe type technique and i need to make something like this to make it work

i dont have my set yet, but im just wondering if i would be able to do that when i get some cash to get it.

  • i did this conversion but i found out that the pedal moves side to side making it unstable , still good for heel toe.

  • i would concider welding the plates on and grinding the rough edge smooth afterwards...

  • What the shit... its fuckin ugly!

    =D

  • @MrCreekyify at least it sounds good...plus who's ganna ask to see ur pedals after a show?

  • @licr8 me ;D

  • i use cheapy pedals and i can still hit pretty good speeds. although having the quality is nice, its not 100% necessary. for me, i think having a good pedal is more about sound and feel rather than going faster. i mean, with my cheapies, i learned how to play them halfway down the pedal even though they're pretty short. :/

  • I use a yamaha double bass pedal they are my fav.

  • i have the pearl double bass drum pedals , will this still work and about how much money did you spend.

  • @ddaarreenn123 someone said it worked on pearls. about 20 bucks

  • @chrisfairbanks THanks bro

  • haha thats awesome. question: does that metal brace get annoying on your foot?

  • i like the idea but i also think that a hands on instructional video would be more effective. but otherwise, great idea!

  • i would like to see a hands on instructional video in this

  • hmmm, an easier way is to safe money and buy an axis...

  • yeah, but not easy... This is an economic way...

  • FYI I took the screws out of the bottom and scooted the board back put back in the center screw really tight and it gave me an extra half inch i needed for heel toe (not good enough tho). i might give this a try. Looks tacky, but if it saves me from buying over priced axis pedals for a lil while, ill try it.

  • Can I do this on a gp double bass pedal???

  • i find longboards so much easier when it comes to speed....thank you whoever invented them

  • axis invented them

  • can i do this on any pedal?

  • will longboards fit a size 14

  • so ghetto lmfao but hey it works haha

  • dumb

  • I need some good suggestion :) I wanna buy a double bass pedal , Should i buy Mapex P580A 2009 series or the Junior Iron Cobra ? Or should i just wait for a long time and buy the iron cobras ? Need some good suggestions :)

    Thanks :)

  • junior's should be fine. 9 1/2 size, you should be fine on any pedal.

  • Go with the original Iron Cobra. It will last you in the long run. Trust me...

  • Pearl p-902 powershifter. Not to expensive. I have them :) Got them yesterday

  • @Love4Drums1 Get the iron cobra, theyll last forever.

  • @Love4Drums1 Depends on if you want long boards or just a pedal... I use Pearl Eliminator P-2002-c's Double pedals... they cost me about $600 but they're probably cheaper now

  • @Love4Drums1 just wait and buy a iron cobra ...no matter how long it takes

  • @Love4Drums1

DW 2000's are better than Cobras, ive never used a Mapex but i recomend DW 2000's... I heard DW 9000's work really well also, but ive played on Cobra and Cobra jr's, and DW 2000's, and the Dw's are way better. it was at guitar center but i used both single and double pedals of both models, and my freind has the Cobra jr's. he plays deathmetal drums, and even he likes DW better

  • @Gr1zz3m I dont think you mean the Iron cobra rolling or power glide? do you?

  • @noobdrummer69

idk, it just said "IRON COBRA (price)" then "iron cobra (price)"

    and DW2000 (price)

and i was able to play much better ion the DW's which were way cheaper than the cobras

  • @Love4Drums1 buy the gibraltar intruder direct drive

  • @Love4Drums1 what about the speed cobras?

  • whats the difference between a regular double bass pedal a a longboard double bass pedal?

  • longboards make heel-toe easier, and also have a larger comfort zone

well thats for proper longborads, those dont seem very... proper xD

  • Longboards (excluding these types of mods) are too light. Most metal drummers who have longboards always end up wearing boots, or either playing and the very end of the pedals just to give them a heavier feel, and your body doesn't like the light feel in the middle of the longboard pedals. The Iron Cobra can give you a heavier feel no matter what you have it set at, and your legs and feet like that kind of leverage

  • @TheRevJr1 I don't think they're too light... I like the feel, speak for yourself D:

  • @writethisdown77

the foot plate goes the full length of the bass of the pedal instead of stopping a few inches from the end and having a heel plate.

  • Thats some great engineering didnt your father design the Ford Pinto?LOL Drummers beware of lame posted vids that will limit your technique and level of degree of playing. This vid is in the top 10 of drumming for the 'Trailer Park Trash Tour!'

  • Can you email me the exact items i need like a list because your explanation is too short to understand

  • do not tear up your pedals dude. you can do heel-toe just fine on short boards. it just takes a little bit of practice.

  • I SUCCEED! only problem is that it makes a clicking noise at the bottom of the pedal. but overall it works great!

  • i was thinking about doing something like this with my pedals - now i know how! awsome man.

  • just buy axis peadls. lol

  • or you could not waste 700 bucks. lulz

  • eat dick.

  • Thanks for the inspiration! I'm just getting into the heel-toe technique. I'm working on a mod with my iron cobra right now. I plan on using the 2 existing holes drilled in the heel plate and attaching it to a door hinge I bought. This way I won't have to deal with any side to side movement. I've also drilled one hole in the actual foot board to attach the heel plate to the rest of the foot board. My goal is to be able to convert the pedal back to its original state if I have to.

  • Zildjian tell me if you succeed ;)

  • holy shit thats fuckin genius !

  • great improvising.xD

  • thats genius! are those iron cobra JRs? or just like the standard tama pedal?

  • jr's because of the single chain.

  • they are double iron cobra jr's

  • thats a cool mod, i really dont care what my hardware looks like, since your suppose to LISTEN to music.

  • instead of making something tht is ruining ur junior iron cobras i would sell those to a friend and save money and buy myself some axis longboards. and they will be alot better than the single chain juniors

  • or you could just learn to play heal toe on the regular pedal...... But if you want to take forever to make a cheap looking pedal, by all means good luck. Though you seem to have done a good job, i personally don't feel the need.

  • i have the exact same pedal

its not possible to play heel toe on it without this modification

when i play heel toe i always end up hitting the chain drive with my toe

  • @heavymetal6893 I do the same, it hurts! then when I put shoes on y foots far to long ¬¬

  • wow buckeye youre either a spoiled brat who got everything they ever wanted from mommy and daddy and therefore completely unaware of reality or youre just a mindless fucktard

  • i fail to see your logic here. by using a regular, non long board peddle, i'm spoiled?

  • The way i see it is that you're just a bit unaware that you are quite possibly in the minority of people (assumption, prove me wrong with statistics if you really must...) with feet short enough to play heel-toe on a regular pedal. Many people's feet are just too long, hence the need for a longboard.

I'm not meaning to flame or anything, just trying to give my interpretaion of what gonzo666X said.

  • well, its possible to play heel toe with your heel off of the board believe it or not. though, i did make a mistake because i don't use it as super fast double bass, i only use heel toe to accent my single bass. So the way i'm describing works for me, for my style, but now i realize that many people physically can't play that way because of the style of music. P.S. Gonzo was being an asshole, thanks for at least being kind.

  • Well I guess that's fair enough.

And thanks, it shits me when people start stupidly aggressive, mindless arguments. So I try to help mediate them every now-and-again.

  • will this work with any pedal???

    even cheapies..

what do you add to the bottom set to make it line up with the longboards/?

  • Your real name isn't MacGyver, is it?

  • it is called the vruk

  • at 0:21 he syas nuts and bolts that will fit through the holes ahahaha

  • 5 year old..

  • no , he means because you cant have a hinge like his on nuts and bolts, you need an individual hing, watch my video i made one to and im not as expierinced as this guy but mine is more mechanically correct

  • is this possible to do on a P122 Pearl pedal?

  • will this work with any pedal?

  • iss this cheaper then going and bying an acutaul one

  • cheaper than an axis, that's for sure

  • dude really interested, but my speakers suck and cant hear u well,Could u make a list of the stuff u need to do this?,please & thanks

  • not sure that id risk that cause nowin me ill screw it up...

  • this is sick

  • now that's a nigger-rig lol! i like it though. spice up some cheap pedals, even better if you can shred on cheap gear : D

  • u shud shwo a test drive

  • i have other vids where i play them

  • it would be really nice if you put subtitles in english please! i cant follow you :( and i am very interested in the explanation because i cant practise the heel-toe tecniche. Thanks you at all

  • It's in english dude

  • yeah i know! but i am spanish and it's very difficult for me to follow he :( it's more easily when you try to understand something written

  • i see, well you should ask for subtitles in spanish then :)

  • that would be the best...but i think it's more normal that he put the subtitles in english lol

  • looks so uncomfortable

  • it would be best if you just replaced the entire foot board with a solid plate of medal... dont you think? that way there would be no weak link in the midle of the pedal...

  • I was lookin at doin this to my pedals and i noticed this comment and am using your idea... thanks mijikle

  • Well Done! I've done the exact same thing with my Tama pedal, but instead of taking the back end apart, I've added a 130mm x 50mm x 4mm piece of aluminum to the front, undid the chain and then used the existing holes in the pedal to connect the aluminum, then connected the chain holder to the aluminum and bobs your mothers brother. Check out my videos and you'll see the mod on my pedal. Less intrusive and easily reversible if you don't like it. Total spend, $3.00. Cheers!!

  • good idea but i think an improvement would be to just clamp a henge on it instead of the zip ties.

  • so simple, i was just thinking that.

  • ya and they even have long gate door hinges that would eliminate the need for the steel plate

  • i like the gate hinge thing. i figured zip ties would be temporary since they would probably break. since they haven't i really never bother to switch to something sturdier. definitely would look more polished.

  • can you reverse it if you don't like it or is it permanent?

  • i can easily be reversed as long as you remember how you took it apart

  • this looks like itd work, but i duns wanna fuck up my pedals now. i duns feel like buying new ones if i screw up

  • i have an old old pearl pedal that came with the 90's export kits i have got a double kick but dont want to try it on that until i know how to do it

  • hi could i make an extenction for any pedal?

  • probably. most pedals are connected about the same way. some people have commented here that they've had success with other ones. what kind of pedal do you have?

  • well theres not much to correct everyone has there own style. no one should dis a personal way of playin which i think youve perfected. i fully remade my pedals out of wood because i couldnt find any aluminum and inlaid a chunk of rubber

  • man, that's sounds really sharp looking. i never would've thought of wood.

  • dude i thank you so much for sparking an idea and everyone else dont be hatin. i found that a long board pedal helps you start the heel toe method especially if you have big feet. after you get it down with the longboard try a regular pedal and if ya dont like it switch back. and thanks man ill send some pics if you want of the one i made

  • hey i appreciate the comment. i'd like to see those pics. i never understood people giving negative comments unless it's to correct something inaccurate.

  • thats a sick idea man, i watched ur video of u playing it. ur awsome at heel toe!

  • Sorry man, looks crappy and I think they feel like shit while playing. The board just looks very uncomfortable. Why didn't you take a board that fits the overall length of the pedal.

But hey, who cares...and it's a cool idea of course. I mean, 'why not' turning the old tama standards into longboards. cheers

  • Lol nice idea i might try that but i have two questions. First could i do this on my big dog double bass pedal or do i need that specific tama pedal?

Second if i fuck it up when altering it or prefer it without long boards can i reverse what ive done?

  • what did u put on the bottom part that sits on the ground to make it longer to attach to the steel foot pedal plate?

  • I might try this except instead of using the orgiginal footboard just cut one out of metal and put a hinge at the end.

  • i thought about that. that would probably be the best thing. i was just worried i would take it apart, try to make a hinge and mess the pedal up or something. if you do it take a picture and send me an email.

  • You can buy replacement hinges i believe from pearl. Hold up I'll check.

  • i made a long board pedal a while back ago. really the idea (heel toe) only works for triggers. you can go just as fast with a regular board. get an iron cobra power glide, all you gotta do is find your sweet spot.

  • an iron cobra power glide is also more expensive

  • whats the cost at the end of all this? looks like a cool idea. My feet are way to big to do the heel-toe on my pedal.

  • a plate of metal and braces really aren't that much. it was around 20 bucks for everything. if you buy some kind of small bolt or hinge for the bottom instead of zip ties, maybe a couple more dollars...

    thanks for the comment

  • Thanks.

I'll probably end up trying this. Longboard pedals are retardly over priced.

  • can this work with DW 7000

  • some people have tried this on dw's with success. i can't remember which models, but from the look of the pedal, i don't see a problem. the good thing is, you can put the pedal back if you don't like it or it doesn't work right.

  • Ummm thx I guess, but there's a reason why pedals have ball bearings and NOT zip ties. If you really need long boards, then buy it!!!

  • actually, these pedals don't have ball bearings on the foot pad base. i know because i took them apart. it's just a simple rod hinge. and like i've said several times, i was planning to change them, but i liked the flux of the pedals relative to how my ankle moves during the heel toe.

  • Doesn't the metal bit in the middle bother your foot a lot? And I was just saying that the zip ties don't seem like a very permanent solution. Nicer pedals will have ball bearings and very precise hardware in order to minimize the collection of friction/undesirable movement. Some pedals have kits to convert to longboards now. DW makes a 5000 series longboard that isn't too terribly expensive. I love tinkering, but this seems like something you will regret after the initial excitement

  • actually that metal part works perfect for me. with the faster heel toe/slide up techniqueyou kind of push up against the pedal like your trying to push your chair away from the computer. this allows me to place the ball of my foot into the metal part. i've had this for 3 years now and have only replaced to zip ties. i guess they go about as fast as springs.

  • wat type of tama double bass pedals are these?

and how much do they cost?

  • how much did all the materials cost?

  • such a good idea wayyyy cheaper then going out and actaully buying them

  • can you do this with pdp's?

how much did the supplies cost

  • exactly what im going to try, do your toes hit the chain on it, mine do, if you want to, send me a message and ill tell you how it want.

  • this is suposed to be a reply for metalhead, but it messed up

  • i made this with a DW 5002 bass pedal, freakin amazing

  • I got told of an Iron Cobra longboard double pedal once. Im getting Iron Cobras in July but I didn't know you could get longboard. Can you buy them or do they have to be made?

  • im not brave enough to drill on or file on my pedals

  • i was that way too. i had the idea for months but it took getting drunk for me to risk screwing up a pedal that cost 200 dollars at the time.

  • haha! a little idea for replacing zip ties: heavy duty hinges!!!! but thats a little harder

  • what are the best db pedals for around 200$

  • DW 70002PT. They're about $230. I use em and love em

  • i have em 2 they are great.

  • Don't listen to what other people say, try them out yourself, get an employee to set them up for you if you don't know how.

  • You are a Heel Toe Master Mind! I tried it, I love it, and i told others of it. Only thing i did differently was place the steel underneath the pedal. I have welder buddies with tools to shape the steel and attach it to the existing pedal. I owe it to your idea bro.

  • you fucking pro , im gona do that ... i have an iron cobra and the pedals are quite small ...

  • Just wanted to say if anyone is thinking of doing this i have done this with mine and am willing to sell it, i have done this with a mapex double bass pedal and works well. Willing to give for great price....ended up buyin an iron cobra

  • okay so i assemmbled exactly what you did and it was incredable i was able to hit more than 210bpm. but i was really satified with my tama iron cobras. so i bought the pearl power shifters eliminaters. they worked great. and they didnt fail on me

    i recomend those

  • just got finished doing this to my mapex pedals, only thing i found was where i took the pivot pin out ,after it was assembled on the down stroke it wants to separate from the long board addition. Other than that great idea and because i have size 12 feet i got a lot of catchin up to do now!!!! Did you find you had to play with the tension springs a bit afterwards?

  • definitely post later if you are able to fix that and how. i'm not too familiar with mapex pedals.

i've always played with a little heavier of a spring. they sell it at Ace; it looks the same size as the reg springs. i did tend to start playing with springs tighter when i started heel toe more. good point.

    thanks

  • dosent a zip ties brake?how hard can you play before they snap?by the way, great idea!!!!

  • i've replaced one zip tie in two years. i don't play really hard, but i suppose you could just use the metal zip ties. the plastic was just what i had on hand.

  • w00t selfmade stuff for the win

  • are you lilly;s son in fairbanks ak?

  • nope

  • thank you for this good idea! and you are really good on drums!

  • ugly pedals

  • This is greatest patenf thanks very much for post it here GOOD JOB RESPECT

  • Wow, nice idea.

  • damn now this is wicked!!!

    respect man!!!
