Can you configure the Thumb Forward and the Thumb Back buttons to be not a keystroke but just a key pressed down? I would like to use this mouse for gaming and I want to be able to press the V key with that side button, as the V is "Knife" and it looks like those buttons are very close and you can click them right as you react, rather than take your thumb and move it to the V key.

I own all 3 mouses. The apple mouses you use your fingertips, the logitech you rest your hand on.

Your trying to hold the apple mouse like the logitech which was pretty funny. the palm of your hand shouldn't touch the apple mouses.

a lot of people dislike the magic mouse, but i think it's mainly cause people dislike change. the magic mouse is dramatic change. you have to COMPLETELY change the way you use a mouse. eventually, you get used to it and develope a way to hold it that's comfortable for you. i have larger hands than you, yet i manage fine with it now. plus the multi touch capabilities are INSANE, thanks to a little app called Better Touch Tool which assigns different multitouch gestures to various actions.

Great review. I really want this mouse now, haha. I have the Logitech LX3 right now, but it's not functioning properly (It clicks automatically sometimes and I don't know why?) so I am looking to get a new mouse. Hopefully one day I will have enough money to get this one, lol.

Hey. @iTalkApple I have a question for you! I bought the MX performance mouse (upgrade of revolution one). After reading and seeing so many great views on this. And I have plugged in the usb wireless thing. And it works. But none of the function buttons work because it won't let me install the software. I have a new 15" macbook pro,with a core i7 processor and Mac OS X Snow Leopard. I have tried downloading the software off the logitech website... and that wouldnt open either. What should I do?

I have this mouse 2.5 years now and i love it.

I converted to Mac 3.5 years ago and i suffered the Mighty mouse for 1 year.

The MX Revolution worked straight out the box on my iMac. It is still as good as the day i got it.

really great review. when u say u need to comfortable when u use it well i am as bowt as uncomfertable as you can get the mouse is terribles somestimes doesnt click feels wierd the keyboard was super cheap and super noisey i sit on a metal chair with a really uncomfartble back and a wood seat the screen is 16 inch and the PC has 1GB of ram and takes 7 mins to boot and 1 and half to fully open a web page i hate my computer jesus i cant wait until i get my laptop. ur really clever at tech stuff

Great video. That's a highly recommended mouse. On the magic mouse, I've used one at the Apple store and it's actually fairy comfortable to me and the elimination of the scroll ball is a big plus. Of course it's not nearly as comfortable as the MX Rev.

Got the same mosue MX Revolution and VX Nano, but are execellent. Just bought the Apple Magic mouse yesterday and return it today. It looks sleep and the no button are koo but it feel uncomfortable when you use it for a long time. I do adobe cs4 photo editing on the Apple Magic mouse vs. the Logitech VX Nano, Logitech feel very comfortable, more buttons option, smoother tracking and plus it came with a travel pouch unlike the Magic Mouse does not.

I tried the Magic Mouse at the apple store and the first thing that hit me was much smaller than the already small mighty mouse it was. Right now at home I'm still rocking the mighty mouse but I'm thinking of changing it. The MX Revolution is the top contender for me right now.

I love Mac, but the mice are awful! I played with the new one and still found it to feel cheap. If it's for looks, sure ,buy it and let it look pretty on your desk. But, if you want a mouse that can handle a true work load, go with the MX Rev!

I'm absolutely agree with the consideration about the Magic Mouse. Unconfortable at all.

It's cool, fashion but unusable; too much flat and thin.

i won't argue about this, but just to give another perspective regarding what most consider "ergonomic", i find to be kind of a gimmick... especially regarding keyboards. To me the hand form fitting just doesn't make sense because it's as if you are constantly gripping the mouse, like holding a tennis ball in you palm for hours on end. The new magic mouse lets my completely relaxed hand hover over it and it just slides along and i barely notice it's there. Maybe it takes getting used to.

yeah i'm just blabbing about the new mac mouse since i just got it haha. I can see why you love your MX Revolution though. I'm just excited about the possibilities of this new multi-touch tech.

What i do notice over the years about finger pain using any given mouse is that it's pressure and repetition that causes my finger, usually the right click finger to hurt. So, if my fingers aren't really touching anything and just kind of relaxed flopped over the magic mouse=less pain lol.

Wow! I thought for sure I was going to get a magic mouse but now I'm thinking MX Revo! I own other Logitech mice that I love but I only started using Apple mice because, well, they were Apple products. They really need to focus on ergos more than design for peripherals I feel. I don't know the limitations of the multi-touch surface of the new magic mouse, but... if they can add double tapping like iPhone/iPod touch zoom etc, then obviously they should be able to add such double tap for magic mouse. I could foresee double tap right to launch expose, double tap left for whatever else etc.

I also think they could add more double and 3 finger gestures like 3 finger swipe up/down for volume and 2 finger swipe up/down to zoom in/out with one hand. I'll send to Apple lol.

i got mine today. I love it so far and think they will rewrite code for more advanced custom settings. To me, the design is great and it's almost like your hand is just resting there on the table... no undue stress is involved in my opinion. The only finger that ever gets stressed regarding using any mouse for me is my right click finger, or middle finger. In the case of the magic mouse it's pretty effortless to press it since there is a rather large isolated area for the secondary click.

that first one looks AWESOME. and I'd rather just use the mighty mouse than the magic mouse, because I use a mighty mouse now, and I wouldn't be able to live without the squeeze buttons, because i always seem to like to show all my windows at once, and I like to click on the scroll ball to show the dashboard. You're right about the scroll ball breaking often, I hate it, but I think if I just have clean hands while on the computer, I can keep that from happening.

i wouldn't go with the MX revolution simply because of the way that it looks... looks mean a lot to me -_- yea i know i sound stupid. lol

besides that, when i use the touch pad on my macbook i don't have anything to 'grip' onto just like with the magic mouse. and its still very comfortable to use. i think its like a touch pad that u can move. on the down side, yea it doesn't have Expose or some of the other functions and thats y i wont buy it. i think apple will update it sometime in the future.

Yeah, I agree. Apple has never really gotten the mouse right. Apple mice tend to look real nice, but not be very usable. They have improved though since the days of the one button mouse.
