We'll have to see if Steve is watching this. I use titanium wire for my weedguards. They're difficult to bend but maintain their shape once set and are very flexible. The fly is designed to imitate a crab, so any fish that takes a crab should take a spoon fly.
When the Tuffleye material cures, it leaves a tacky surface that is removed using alcohol. The pads are a convenient method of carrying the alcohol around when tying or when at the bench.
Any special wire you are using for the weed guard? Ever try this fly for Northeast Stripers?
