@sandro28grizz Couldn't have said it better myself. Rather than pretentious I'd much rather think of their songs as melodic symphonies of a profound and incredibly unique nature. Able to extinguish the lies We've been conditioned to have faith in by instilling a belief in freedom. Each time I experience a Pink Floyd song my perception is elevated to plains I didn't even know existed. The depths of their creativity matches those of Beethoven and Mozart.

The groups that cover this leave out the keyboards and the loose improv echo style of Syd, only leaving in the catchy hook Riff. Maybe we wouldn't have heard of Floyd at all if he didn't leave. Just tragic that he couldn't pull himself together to give us a bit more than the two solo albums. I'm sure his playing would have improved but I doubt he practiced much in the mid seventies. I can only guess his confidence must have been low in those bleak years.
