@Omili boston legal is just a spin off...and the alan shore in the practice was MUCH MUCH MUCH better...boston legal madehim in a PUSSY!...he actualy follows the RULES in boston legal
Sorry dude, I was being lazy with my reply. He was never charged because the murder weapon was never found. The episode is called "Concealing Evidence" so I guess you can figure out what happened ;-)
I wouldn't say there is a better series, i think both series have different styles and focus on different aspects of lawering.
Boston Legal is made funny and lax, while the practice is the more serious one.
I watched Boston Legal first, then the 8th season of the Practice and now i think i will start with season 1, both series have likeable characters which is the thing both have in common and the reason i like it :)
@manadar While I love both, I will say that The Practice was the better show, both before Season 8 and with the way it handled Alan Shore in Season 8 itself. The Practice was unpredictable. It focused on murder trials, it was a darker series, the guy was ALWAYS guilty. Alan was a much darker character in The Practice.
Boston Legal is more political, lighter. Alan almost always wins his cases.
Plus, The Practice never suffered from dwindling cast members, even in Season 8. Boston Legal did.
@manadar Boston Legal, while not quite the crime drama that The Practice was, was still the best show on Television in recent years. ABC were fools for cancelling it, as has been said by many.
Well i don't agree, because BL was more satiric and didn't have such a strong plot as the practice, it had more of an episodic style and for me, these series have an expiration date, i was quite pleased they didn't squeeze a 6th series out of BL
@manadar Boston Legal was a comedy-drama, it distinguished itself from The Practice by being episodic, by being something that neophyte viewers could just dip into. As for plots, compare Boston Legal to most of the crap on television these days. It had excellent plots and excellent character development. It suffered from the typical dwindling cast members after Season 3, but even then it still maintained its quality.
Can't really argue there, it was still quality TV in the 5th series and i prefered it to 98% of the Bullsh** that is shown on TV, but in my opinion u could see that the ideas were going out, which happens in episodic series. They are great to just dip into, but what i loved about the practice and other series e.g. Dexter is that with a continuing plot over 3 or more episodes u can tell better stories that are more thrilling and intense.
@manadar Well you know. Like many of David E Kelley's shows, once some of the key cast members left some of their good material went with them.
But, speaking strictly of Season 8 of The Practice, it had some great multi-part episodes that really showed you how intricate and layered Alan Shore was. For example, the three parter where he defended his childhood friend in a murder trial, or the fall-out from his firing that lead to the set-up of Boston Legal. He was darker here, and I loved it.
@GeneralBulldog54 Boston Legal? Yeah it was. It made syndication money which is rare when inter-network politics work against you. The fact that it had many of the desirable demographics kinda helped as well.
However you should expect a much darker Alan Shore in the 8th Season of "The Practice". Also I'd like to add, that Season 8 is absolutely watchable without ever havin seen the first seven seasons, because it sets in after they made sort of a cut at the end of season 7. I'd call it a prologue of "Boston Legal"
Basically yeah. Boston Legal is a Spin-off. Season 8 of The Practice welcomed Alan Shore, A friends of Elonor, and after he got fired, he took them to court using Crane, Poole & Schmidt. They then offered him a job.
I'd certainly advise watching at least Season 8 of The Practice. It is much better than Boston Legal.
Alan Shore actually started out in "The Practice" as did Tara, the women who said, "No, You get down. What the hell is this?"
And though I haven't really seen much of the Practice before, I do believe that they are the ones who sued Allen as referenced in an episode of Boston Legal and I believe Allen won his countersuit against them, the Practice went under and Allen moved on to Crane Pool and Schmidt.
@GojyotheFeared That's a continuity error. Alan sued Young,Frutt and Berlutti, he was never sued by them. Either it was intentional in that Paul Lewiston didn't have all the facts, or it was a screw up by one of the writers, hopefully one that didn't work on The Practice, but Alan was never sued, he did the suing, he won, their practice went under and Alan moved on.
This comment has received too many negative votes show
i miss the old practice....alan shore is an idiot.
