Rocko Creator Joe Murray Draws Ed & Bev Bighead

Joe, love your shows, love your style and all that jazz. Im an "aspiring" cartoonist and I was just wondering If you recall what sound effect libraries were used for Rocko's Modern Life. They're classic sound effects but don't sound like they were recorded 40 years ago (like Warner Bros).Or were they created in foley specifically for the show? Thanks for reading and for the memories you created for me with your shows. And most importantly keep making cartoons.

I know you get this a lot but I want to thank you for making this great cartoon. Last summer, I started getting into comics and began drawing some on my own. You and Rocko are really inspire me. Out of all the nicktoons from the 90's, none had a greater impact on my childhood than Rocko. It really is a shame Nick was to blind to see the genius of it. Hopefully soon, maybe towards the end of this decade, well have another renaissance in children's TV when my generation starts to take over.

Dude I fuckin' loved watching Rocko as a kid. I'm now 23 years old and I still love this show. I watch it all the time on the Nicktoons channel late at night. I'm so happy they still air it. I seriously need to get the seasons on DvD. I saw them on sale on amazon.com. Joe Murray, u are a goddamn genius. I am a big fan. Thanks for coming up with this fantastic cartoon. was watching the episode about Ralph Bighead wanting to get out of his contract and so he had Rocko and the guys animate for him. xD i used one of those same cameras for my final last year, and i pretty much had the same late-night hysterical episode that all those guys had! great to see it brought to life - especially with your voice! lol

I remember Rocko's Modern Life from when i was 8 years old during the golden age of tv. i get the adult humor now. i love the episode road rash even more now then i did then. especially the beegees on bagpipes lol and the censored motel scene.

if you ever get the rights to Rocko's Modern Life back. can you make new epsiodes of Rocko's Modern Life ?

I just said the true, Camp Lazlo is not as good as Rocko's Modern Life, in fact , CL is pretty bad because it lacks the whole atmosphera that Rocko has.

One of my favorite lines from "Leap Frogs" is in the scene where Ed comes home and find Rocko with Bev.

ED: "You saw my wife in her bath robe?! Isn't it awful?" LOL!!!

I also love the scene with the spider in the bathroom!

Firstly, "I hate my life."

Secondly, over the course of the past 15yrs, I have gone through myriad changes and transformations in my life. My tastes have evolved, & I have moved far away from my former go-tos. One predilection that has endured is my affinity for RML. Be it with my older brother in our living room (15 yrs. ago) or from my comp. screen in college (now), I always have and always will love RML. It truly is a timeless masterpiece.

The bigheads remind me of the Fatheads.

Im going to say this but it would be nice if the Fatheads had their own series on Adult swim for example, since you had Camp Lazlo on Cartoon Network.

but im guessing since Nick owns the rights to rockos, they probably own the rights to the cartoon segments inside the cartoons too.

Joe, when I watched Rocko as a kid, it was in re-runs on a cable channel called Nicktoons TV which unfortunately no longer exists. And I do remember the episode you mention so if it was banned, it is no longer. :) At 17 years old, I have become nostalgic for how much I love this cartoon and I found your blog and I think it's great that you still draw them. Is it possible we might see new Rocko cartoons in the future?

Your show was absolutely one of THE BEST cartoons on Nick during the 90s, I thank you so much for the creation of the show and though it's many years past, send my apologies to you for what happened in your personal life during Rocko. Please release the series on DVD, it would be wonderful to relive the series again. I'm sure Nickelodeon no longer cares about what happens or becomes of the show today, it's a thing of the past for them.

Bev and Ed were always one of my favorite cartoon couples growing up and they had a strong realistic feel of how a couple acts. I remember watching the episode you mentioned with my mom, I thought she was gonna hate it but she found it insanely hilarious and always loved the Bigheads. Thanks for this video :3
