Larry....You know what i see when i come here?...Yes, it is a good song...But this is one, like so many of yours, that shows one thing...There are people that have a nice voice and people that can play a guitar well...And when they cover a song, such as this, it is pleasent...But, when you do a song, original or cover, it's much more than that...The sounds of your voice and playing are genuinely superb in every way....You so deserve the name MUSICMAN:)...ione marie
@fredechar812 He's playing in D. First chord is Dmajor7th. It's mostly in key from there.. it does what chord sequences do.. - not too many surprises!! (DMAJ7, F#m, Bm, F#m should set you off if you can't work out the first few...)
In the chorus the bass line (and chords) just go down and up bits of the the D major scale, but listen out for the odd chord that breaks out of key (accidentals)
Excellent cover, my favorite hall and oates song as it would happen. If you could post the tab or chords that would be awesome. Really nice gibson by the way
Start up that grill, I'll bring a couple of bottles of wine(and whatever you want to drink) and my guitar. We'll jam all afternoon on that fine looking deck. I have been listening to this song for 35 years. A Hall and Oates fan from the git go
Great cover, thanks! Discovered you from "Feeling Young". I was looking for Your Neil Young covers but didn't find them!
My college buddy died this past November. His big brother used to sing with Hall & Oates on Philly street corners. My buddy and I used to stumble after closing the bars singing "Sara Smile", and lots of R&B and Rock. My viewing of your vid is my tribute to Chuck and I'm singing along!
Larry....Embarrassed to admit this is the first time hearing this song...but pleased that my ears are hearing your voice doing it:)....you look so at ease singing...beautiful scenery and your smile....makes for an enjoyed day......ione marie
I wish I was your neighbor..Seems like when you play outdoors you have a free spirit about you and I love to see you smile..but you are always fantastic..thanks for another wonderful song
Great as usual. Can you comment on your recording set up. Mike .. Brand .. Video/Webcam. ( I know these are you trade secrets)
Also what brand guitar strings and while your at it .. guitar brand. Not that I am trying to copy everything but I need to upgrade. With in reason. I am starting out with a $29 webcam so moving up will be a relative big jump... what would you suggest.
Dunno about the strings, but our hero here has a nice collection of really good guitars.
That mike is a Audio Technica AT822 stereo microphone, battery powered (model is discontinued, I believe its successor uses 48V phantom power). The mike's hooked up to a fine HD camera.
But if you really want to move up your equipment, you should buy an iMac or MacBook. Comes with iMovie and Garageband. And that's all you need.
Love this! Beautiful setting. Bet your neighbors love it, too. Used to have a teenage boy next door who would have his buddies over to jam on acoustic guitars and sing, on the deck. I would open my windows and enjoy the free concerts. :-)
Great that you are smiling again. Wonderful video. :-)
Larry: How funny! I just purchased the Hall & Oates LP Abandoned Luncheonette, their first, as a CD last week. You've done an excellent job on this tune from that LP. How about When The Morning Comes?

For your loyal fans (at the very least) could you let them observe your left hand in your guitar videos.

Sara should feel lucky. She had 2 songs written about her that I know of...this one and of course, "Sara Smile."

I'm not familiar with this song from H&O but I'm sure I'll get quite aquainted with it now that you've posted it. :)
One on One is my fave from them.

Love it when you take these songs and strip them down, Larry. Deceptively simple, decidedly captivating.
