When there is a flame in the glass, the molecules themselves move faster and farther away from each other, so the pressure increases. When the egg is placed on top and the flame goes out, the molecules slow down and move closer together and the pressure on the inside of the glass lowers. This creates a "partial vacuum" which sucks the egg in.

@okpapereat Well.. Kinda. To go a bit more in-depth, something has to fill up space. Usually its a gas of some sort, Oxygen mainly. Fire uses Oxygen to burn. So... using the egg to keep anymore oxygen from going INTO the jar, the fire burns the Oxygen creating a lack of space, and making a vacuum. Sucking the egg inside. Pretty simple, eh?
