ITG timing is more exact, so it syncopates with your body's internal metronome better. DDR timing is either ahead or behind (I forget which it was). it's very slight, but it makes it harder for your body to stay in syncopation with the songs. that's why players will usually get more fantastics (ITG) than marvellouses (DDR), even though they're ideally the same step rating.

@JSwanKilowJ I think the term is "synchronize," not "syncopate." But, you're right. The timing window in ITG is a bit more accurate. I think it has something to do with the notes themselves, though; DDR loves to use 12ths or 24ths whenever 16ths or 32nds would be more sensible. Just look at Healing-D-Vision as an example.

yeah, music vocabulary mixed in with regular vocab, sorry bout that! yeah, it's partially the notes, but it is also the calibration od DDR in general. I used to play all the time in a nearby arcade, and I grew up on DDR. then we got ITG machines and I got used to playing that for years. suddenly, no more ITG machines and DDR machines were back, but I found my timing was off even though I was stepping on beat. so it seems more like the calibration of the game itself.

I remember DDRX getting a lot of heat for its newer cabinets because there was a huge delay (I'm talking upwards of a second) in stepping and response. There was no re-calibration in those cabinets, which really ruined the game for those on the newer cabinets. However, there was an earlier cabinet without the problem.

I think it was for the game overall. I had an adjustment period when adapting to ITG as well. I would get greats and excellents like no other and eventually got my timing down. So I'm pretty sure it was from all the previous DDR games where I got screwed up

@ravel111 I guess so, it's really a matter of opinions. the hardest DDR charts (like this or Valkyrie Dimension) are hard because they are filled with (sometimes useless) cross-overs, jumps and BMP changes. On the other hand, ITG bring mines, hands and faster-than-16th-arrows (for lack of better word for it) in some songs, which can really make it challenging.

@pikklethedill dude the fascination song are easy! i usually play standard on most 170-333 songs and i learned expert/heavy on the eternal love mix in less than 2 weeks! and btw 2MB is just a remixing artist they remix songs pluto relinquish is a remix from the original pluto. and fascination eternal love mix is a remix from fascination maxx (which is in a way a little bit harder than eternal love if you dont count the tricky stops in eternal love

This song was significant because it brought back the fear. Back in 6th Mix, when boss songs were invented, when you fucked up and AA'd your third song, and that dial stuck on MAX 300, you were literally fucking afraid of what you were hearing.

I don't know what X2 is doing, but none of X's boss songs even came close to this.

@AbsoluteDemon I was thinking the same thing, when you were to do a boss song, just listen to the Max songs, or even Paranoia Survivor/Survivor MAX, they sound like a song is about to kill you (almost literally), and they were as tough as they sounded. I look at the new POSSESSION song, and it's challenging I guess, but not NEARLY as intimidating. This song is one of my favorites. It's not only enjoyable to play, but to me, it's an awesome song to listen to otherwise!

Honestly, this song doesnt look TOOO bad, though i would still prolly fail. Its fast, but it isnt really tricky. Paranoia hades and fascination eternal love mix (shiver) have lots of jumps in the middle of the streams and even when those songs slow down, you are still moving at a fast pace. Oh well, the day i pass any red song on challenge is the day hell freezes over anyways... (though i did a couple heavies)
