awesome. i commented on this 3 years ago when it was upoloaded and it's till great to watch. if anyone has video of Barry's fights with his dad signing Danny Boy that would be even better.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
maguigan was just average he was a lovely lad ,Sanchez or Nelson would have abliterared him but he was a lovly knocked back the mbe till he got skint then got a few quid
I remember this fight. I was a big McGuigan fan at the time, living in Ireland and was really disapointed. Then about 4 years later I went to Las Vegas and I could not believe the heat and how hard it must have been for him to fight outside in it. His manager Barnie Eastwood should have been shot, he couldn't find an inside venue in Vegas ??.
barry outscored pedroza over fifteen rounds...,some fighters burn out quicker than othere for watever reason, barry lost his father and after that saw no reason to fight, when he returned he had no love for boxing...,bruno was no joke,he was a world champion, was outboxing lewis before getting caught, was the first fighter to really hurt tyson, won the wbc title...
I remember watching the mcguigan fights on tele when i was just a kid. brought the family and friends together. especially love when his father would sing danny boy before a fight. sends shivers up the spine to listen to it. mcguigan was a class act!
because ive seen most of his fights, he was an overhyped fighter, lost to Eubank (a genuine good boxer) 's brother, lost to a bum in Cruz, and lost to Jim McDonnell, he's not in the same league p4p british as Naz, Honeyghan, Benn, Eubanks to name a few
Dot talk absolute toilet. he hammered Eubanks and was robbed and then battered seven shades out of him in the return. The Cruz fight..we all know what happened there and as for Jim McDonnell...Barry was cut and severly hampered....barry was a league above Jim. Away and watch his fights with LaPorte and Pedroza and educate yourself.
Barry was a world class fighter..Cruz was a journeyman fighter, who got lucky...an irishman fighting in 110 degree heat during the day aint gonna win,no matter who's in the ring...
No not really...,irish people aint climatised to that heat,an irish person would find it hard walking around in that heat, never mind fighting in it...
its nothing to do with being irish,im a boxing fan,ive slated Andy Lee,Bernard Dunne,John Duddy, they are all irish, you cant call a man that won a world title against a great fighter crap..plus he was one of the most exciting fighters of the 80's...
so one hundred and ten degree heat means nothing...ok...,trying to walk around in that heat would be hard, now imagine trying to fight in that for 15 rounds...,cold?u idiot, the second they start fighting they would warm up,massive difference between fighting in the cold indoors and outdoors in extreme heat..
seen barry fight in the juvinile champs i think 77,78 and admired his style, shared a dressing room in edenderry tournaments a couple of times, a true gentleman & aledgend boxer!!!!

My dad Farid Gallouze fought with Barry for European title, but he lost at 2nd round by KOT. I'm proud of him to fight a great fighter like Barry. My dad say "his blows are like an electrical choc". Barry is probably the best Irish fighter of this century, and he answer to fan's letter himself ! (sorry for my english...)
Barry was one of our greatest. Still rate his fight with Pedrosa as one of the greatest. Watched it live on TV as a kid with my dad. Such heart and passion. He puts most of these clowns around today to shame.
Great montage! I remember watching Barry as a teenager here in the states - his fights were BIG on our tv, especially the Pedroza fight. He was a class act. One of my all time favorites.
barry mcguigan is irish not british,i hate the way the british say he was a british fighter,i bet if he had been crap and not won a world title they would have called him irish, typical fuckin brits.irish eyes are smiling not british

it breaks my heart that anything that good comes out of the 6 counties sports wise the english always call it a britieh success,i can bet u the english dont even know barry was born in the republic
True, same with Scottish sporting achievments (lol i know they are rare). If a Scottish athlete wins something, the press claim it as a Britsh success. If an English athlete, especially a white english athlete, then it's not British -it's only English. I mean wtf!
im from a "loyalist" community in belfast and i remember crying when barry won the world title against pedrosa at loftus road and i remember being absolutely gutted when he lost against cruz he was a hero to all in both N.Ireland and the Republic we all loved our barry.
best ever irish fighter.. i u got to love that he brought the birish flag in.. shows that he is proud to be british and we should all be..even though irland is i island for it slef we are all the same really. we all have the same culture and mentality.. im english but of irish desent. my great grandfather came over to england for work and im proud to have irish in my blood
im english but of irish desent. my great grandfather came over to england for work and im proud to have irish in my blood
Mate same here Barry through his boxing brought people together. That is what Sport does it builds bridges and breaks down barriers, he was a great Fighter regardless of what flag he boxed under.

ireland and iraq have more in common than people might think.

Mate same here Barry through his boxing brought people together. That is what Sport does it builds bridges and breaks down barriers, he was a great Fighter regardless of what flag he boxed under.
