  • When I was in Iraq, a bomb made me spill my coffee. Also, some guys died or something, I'm not really sure. But oh god my coffee!! Noooo! (training to be a troper)

  • The opening quotes pretty accurately describes spending any length of period spent reading Troper Tales.

  • The last one was the best.

  • Am I the only one who misses Troper Tales?

  • 3:00 This guy either lives in an alternate universe in which the McCarthy Era never ended, or he blows shit out of proportion.

  • They should rename it Crash Into Slumber for these people.

I hope someone got the reference.

  • @Judex777 Their heart level was shattered down to 15%.

  • The gamecube one is fucking legit. Oh god the horror...

  • 2:35

PEOPLE AT SCHOOL SOMETIMES DO DRUGS WHO KNEW

  • Is it alright to have a BSOD from reading these entries?

  • 2:30

    Right above the highlighted entry.

Apparently, her actual, real-life friends hold nowhere near as much value as this Heath Ledger, who she would have no chance of ever meeting, dead or not.

    How pathetic.

  • I was about to say that the first chick had a legit reason to be on the HBSOD page, then the next entry came up.

Two minutes later, I was able to stop laughing enough to hit the play button.

  • wow life is tough

  • I love how the first one, which was genuinely depressing and actually justified, was followed by the second one, which was some retard crying over a video game.

  • 2:07 I know a LOT of kids at school who are like that. They just need to take a breather and realize that it's not the end of the world.

  • At 0:41, you can see my entry on the very top.

  • Ten seconds in and I already love you.

  • TVTropes is great.

    Tropers suck.

  • @BasementBeginnings

Not all TVT users are this horrifying, I can assure you. Some of them are even normal people. Generally speaking, anyone who uses the term "this troper" is sending out a giant red warning sign.

  • @gatotsu2501 Probably not, but the majority surely presents itself that way. I feel like if I were to have a "normal" real-life conversation with most of these tropers they would start freaking the fuck out, pull out a pen, stab me in the goddamn throat and run. :\

  • @BasementBeginnings Tropers suck BECAUSE of TvTropes. The tropers here are the ones who couldn't escape the website..may their souls rest in peace.

  • The one that got cut off was probably the only decent Troper Tale ever written.

  • WE HAVE FAILED AS A CULTURE

  • That first one was sad, I hope the brother's okay. And the last one upset me a bit, too. While being considered a BSOD is arguable, I still feel bad for that guy. It sucks when everyone is laughing at you for something you find all too serious.

  • "This troper sank into a depression for months when there was a power outage during a marathon of Firefly :'C Sure, you may say "I sank into one when a friend died" or "when my parents divorced or lost their job" BUT YOU DON'T KNOW MY PAIN" What the shit is this fuck? Sheeit, even I have Asperger's and even though I might feel upset over some bullshit thing every now and then but I'm not pathetic enough to share it with the world like these assclowns. But I hope the first one's bro is okay now

  • Wow... the first one was actually sad. I hope that brother is okay, he must be going through some deep shit if he's suicidal and cutting himself.

  • Spilling ink...on a comic book filled with shitty drawings is TRAGIC?!?!?

  • You can tell that none of these overly privileged adult children have ever experienced a truly difficult moment in their sheltered lives.

  • The culture of one-upmanship has gone too far.

  • Hm. You spilled ink on you manga?

    NOTHING OF VALUE WAS LOST

  • What's this? I used the wrong item in a video game. I didn't mean to do that! Now I'll just have to stare at the game like a dead fish for hours and even days at a time.

I...just...don't believe what happened. Oh dear...God...

  • The internet is not your diary.

  • Wow, and I thought my dad dying was the worst thing that could ever happen to me. This totally brings it into perspective. I mean, spilling ink? You poor baby, you'll be in therapy for the rest of your life.

  • funy

  • There are some things that shouldn't be in HD.

  • I like how people think they're heroes even thought they're not heroes but self-important assholes who did nothing to contribute to society aside from participating in the legacy of WTF that is the This Troper section of TV Tropes as a warning to the people who read this to NOT be like the idiots who post that kind of crap.

  • I once helped a friend get over heroin addiction, but stop the fucking presses! I never had the misfortune of using the wrong seed in a Pokemon game!

  • Who the fuck is Azathoth.

Why does he rule the universe.

THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU

  • @calvinjluther I don't that much about him, but he's some sort of eldritch abomination known as "The Almighty Idiot". Basically a destructive force of nature that just kills everything.

  • @DaionusThe23rd What you're telling me is that this guy is fucking retarded and I hate him even more now.

  • @calvinjluther H.P. Lovecraft....one of the mind-bending gigantic monsters from beyond the stars Lovecraft wrote about. AKA "the Old Ones."

Seriously, I had to Wiki the name; I only know Cthulu.

    Jesus, this is nerdy.

  • I've met one; count 'em, one person on TvTropes I would consider a hero. He's in the Air Force, but he'd never make an entry on Heroic BSOD because he's not a self-important faggot with daddy issues.

  • I used to think I was a hero in a small, stupid way for breaking up a dog fight or helping out a cancer-ravaged neighbor in a fallen-can't-get-up situation, but then I ran into these tales of netizens valiantly misreading Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and screaming when people touch them. I'm clearly a fraud. :(

  • PEOPLE IN HIGH SCHOOL DO DRUGS

    STOP THE PRESSES!

  • A heroic BSOD? More like AN HEROIC BSOD.

  • There's this magazine I subscribed to it since I was 7 years old, and they stopped publishing it a few months ago. I was upset, and all, but my reaction basically amounted to "Dang, that's too bad." Same thing when Toonami went off the air - I was a little bummed and then I moved on. I've got problems besides my favorite programming block being gone, you know?

I REALLY hope these guys are exaggerating, but I still don't get how this stuff can matter that much to anyone.

  • @EponymousKid Exaggeration seems to be the way of Troper Tales. It's like everyone feels the need to top someone else's story with a "oh yeah! Well guess what happened to me?" entry of their own.

Although there are many entries in Troper Tales that make me wonder why the hell anyone would admit to them.

  • "I have a BSOD every time someone touches me."

    I...think that's more of a Heroic TILT.

  • 1:21

Yeeeep, this guy was a total furry at one point. You can tell by the wall of text and BAWWWING.

  • So wait, a HBSOD is basically when somthing bad happens to you and your reaction is to like shut down?

I know a mentally challenged kid who does that when a basketball hits him in the back of the head, wtf.

  • @ambrosiaplatypus

Sort of. The real life equivilant can be PTSD, an acute stress reaction, depression...something along those lines. The examples on the main page list things like characters witnessing someone close to them dying (especially if it was indirectly their fault), discovering a shocking revelation about someone in their family that somehow ties them into it, or being placed in a situation where they have to compromise their morals. There are more, but those are the main ones.

  • @ambrosiaplatypus (cont)

However, the tropers here have a skewered view on what a BSOD actually is. The point was underlined perfectly in the beginning when it jumped from "I discovered my brother was cutting himself" to "I used the wrong seed in my Pokemon game". Notice the difference? Or thinking spilling ink on your manga is as traumatic as your friend dying.

  • @lera980 I still don't think "Mentally Shutting Down" is the best response to a problem, tropers always seem to be so helpless, when they really don't know how to handle a problem that has had an episode of Haruko No Kanuna Generic Anime What-The-Fuck, you know what i'm saying?

  • "(also an aspie)" That's a pretty redundant statement.

  • Troper Tales is one big BSOD. Don't try to fix it. It's beyond repair.

  • @EdmacZ

If BSOD stands for Bullshit Overdose, then yes. Troper Tales is a big one.

  • I experienced a Heroic BSOD after reading the Heroic BSOD sections of TVTropes.

  • I love to read TVTropes because I find it fascinating, but the userbase is just a bunch of people who think their lives matter to the rest of us.

  • I love the vast difference between these. You have some people who were put into horrible depressions by the loss of loved ones and horrible accidents, and then you have some random kid who lost his save game in Pokemon and honestly feels that his loss is equal. I mean, maybe I should worry for the people that fall in line with the latter example, but I just find it too damn pathetic and therefore hilarious.

  • Why last troper? WHY DO YOU HATE AMERICA?!

Also RIP latest suicide victim who I don't remember the name of. You guys come and go so fast.

  • 2:11

    Holy shit, it's Inception.

  • You found out your brother is engaging in self-harm? That's nothing, I once used the wrong item in a video game!

  • What is so heroic about all these?

  • It's starting to stop being funny, and start being frustrating.

I, too, am genuinely pissed off at this one.

    You're doing god's work, CrazyGoggs.

  • This Troper is a series about stupid people saying stupid things for everyone to see.

  • I can understand having a genuine BSOD over the death of a friend, but seriously thinking that's on par with spilling ink on your manga is...beyond any words of fury I could describe. There is, however, one word that can be used to sum up the other ones, ESPECIALLY the last one: Wangst (and ironically, there is now a Troper Tales section for THAT).

  • @lera980 This being TV Tropes, we can't be sure that her dead "friend" is a person, or indeed a living entity...

  • I've been watching these for a while now, and they're hilarious. But what website is this from?

  • @pastooleo1 TV Tropes.

  • y

    your friend died and you

    you

    fuck off

    godfuckingdamnit

  • i was really sad when my friend died but more sad when i spilled ink on my manga

  • @Gaupa2 - Especially because it was furry yaoi manga

  • Doesn't take much to get tropers down does it?

  • This Troper is a series about TV Tropes and why people should still hit their children.

  • ....These tropes are not Heroes.

  • Why is there a Troper Tales page for Heroic BSOD? No one that posts on TV Tropes is a hero, and none of them are going to recognize the dichotomy between a huge revelation or dramatic event that shakes them to their core and causes them to almost literally shut down, and a moment in their life when they were a little bit upset over some mostly inconsequential event.

There is no way for this page to lead to anything other than sighs and red hand-shaped marks on foreheads.

  • I love how contrasting the first one is in comparision with the rest. Brilliant editing, guys.

  • The only explanation is that everyone on TV Tropes has crippling aspergers. No normal person is so innately dysfunctional.

  • @irondomokun Aspergers?

No. They have full fledged retardation.

  • This one made me genuinely mad.

These people are not, in any sense of the word, heroes. These self-important and privileged manchildren are not fighting injustice, saving lives or suffering some unbearable plight. Only in the small, self-delusional stories they have made up in their heads to give importance to their boring, lonely and miserable existence, are they heroes.

  • @EyeoftheU Thank you; you've said what was on my mind when I was watching this.

  • @EyeoftheU I'm sorry, did you expect them to be heroes?

you need to have some form of willing suspension of disbelief if you're going to go to "this troper" pages

but no, because they aren't heroes, they don't deserve to have Blue Screens of Death

    ...

    ...

granted those BSODs were quite retarded, but that's besides the point.

  • the toonami guy probably hung himself after he found out sym-bionic titan might be getting cancelled

  • Cause Pokemon is just as traumatic as freaking attempted suicide.

I love you sometimes TV tropes

  • @Skinnyoompalumpa @nhonho23 Yeah, I love how even on the page it's RIGHT after one another. The first one is completely understandable to be upset about, to be worried when a family member or someone you're close to is going through that. The one right after is just.. ugh... "BUT MY POKAYMON GAEEEEM"

  • But...you're not...no one is...unless you're a law enforcement agent or a fireman or something like that and you save lives, you can't really be a hero...at least not in a traditonal....

    FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCKKK!

I'm sorry, I really am, but this one actually pissed me off in so many ways. I still like the mission behind TV Tropes but this...THIS...is the reason why I don't read Troper Tales.
