@lemonadegrave Read the description for another piece of software that I've linked you to. The SimpleCenter software isn't in development anymore, but the other software is free and still works. The video is still relevant in that regard. I'm going to leave this video up for years to come.

@DaniWithTheFanny You can, but make sure that it is turned on and connected to your network. You can't put the laptop to sleep or shut it down if you want to stream your content.

Seriously, why would you want to mess around transferring content to some program even if it wasn't a trial product. Talk about making hard work. WMP works just fine and with Windows 7 is very straightforward. Oh yeah and for the record PS3 does not handle avi. Freeware such as Handbrake will convert to a codec that it can read. If your unlucky you may have slight sound/speech sync issues but nothing too drastic.

@iatrot Try making your videos smaller in size by decreasing quality a little bit, or go over etnernet if possible. The server works great some days but others it will hiccup. That's Sony's problem, not yours. They need to make it work better, but that's what homebrew is for ;)

@vashstampo Nope, you need a big hard drive for your PS3 to do that. With a server your data is stored on your PC and your PS3 just accesses it.If you put your data on the PS3 hard drive, then your computer can be off.

Anyone who has problem with not finding server, please do the following in your ps3. Most videos doesn't inform this but chances are this is the problem - Go to setting, network setting , and enable your media server connection ( remember to do this in the ps3). You really don't have to do this in Window Media Player. Basically, just enable server sharing on your computer and turn off your fire wall - that is pretty much all you have to do on the computer. The rest, you can do it on the PS3.
