  • atleast get yourself a better fish tank =)

  • @alvin06sarte Too expensive for a P3. In time.. :)

  • Very nice. I don't think the fans appreciate the oil too much; though I base that on no research of my own, so maybe they love it. :)

So temperature stays pretty low and consistent? That's cool.

Canola oil.. Awesome stuff, I use it as a lubricant for squeaky door hinges and assembly.

  • @ReaKtionary Thank you :)

The fans don't mind at all because they're brushless. And the coil or components can't overheat either because of the oil. The bearings should stay lubricated too :p

The temps are definitely consistent, no hot spots. The box isn't a great heat conductor though, if the hardware were more powerful I'd add an aquarium pump and a radiator. Still 57C in sunlight is not bad.

  • @Th3SMS

    Not bad at all.

  • shouldn't you have used an oil with a higher smoke/flash point than canola? maybe peanut or macadamia?

  • @twixandchips Well canola oil has a flash point of 327°C. Even if somehow a spark would occurr in the PSU, all the heat would dissipate to the oil, and then my RCD should trigger as well. If the whole box reached 327°C, I think the open worm hole to the core of earth under it would be a bigger problem :-p

  • haha well good luck man hope it doesnt go bad.

  • Jaha, ex-luokkakaveri on alkanut sitten pahemman luokan nörtiksi :P No eikai siinä, huippu projekti ja tuloskin ilmeisesti siedettävä. *tykkää* -Simo
