I probably have watched more footage of bores than a lot of people and honestly, unless someone can prove the contrary, I still maintain what I am saying. We're talking about media trips so photo / footage evidence is the key. As for me and quite a few guys I talked to, Greg Long cover up on Qiantang in October 2009, was not really a barrel evidence. Aso,I am not saying that noone has ever barrelled on tidal bores, I am only talking about being seriously schacked in brown water "on film".

@yepanty I agree about Greg Long. It was a good head dip, but not a full barrel. I take your point and I accept what you're saying about it being on video. To be honest I would guess that I've seen about as much video footage as you, although I am not a traveller as you are. I think the choice of words though, was unhelpful and unwise. People who have been tubed on tidal bores, and I know a small number, are not exactly happy. Respect the history of bore riders please. I know you do really.

@ Ripcurl . On the write-up for this there is a claim that this is "Undoubtedly the first legitimate river bore tube ride" or something to that effect. I love the video, but the claim is bullshit. Where did you check that out, or did you just make it up? Nonsense like that does nothing for your reputation.

Apart from the semi-cover-up Greg Long had on Qiantang River, China in oct 2008, those are the first-ever bore barrels caught on film, believe me !

@yepanty That may, or may not be the case, but you know very well that people have been barreled on tidal bores before, don't you. It happened at least twice on the Severn last year, and there are bigger, better bores than the Severn so I'm sure it has happened many times. Tidal bores as so strong and sudden in their onset that anything in the water is probably getting kicked around anyway.
