Very useful tutorial, thankyou! However, when i try to draw the eyebrows and use the selection tool to delete the lines i dont want , it selects the whole oval and deletes it all-is there something that im doing wrong?

Cool this helped a lot. I used the paint brush for all my other flash drawings and they looked like crap. I can see this is the way (using shapes) is how to make nice clean outlines.

To delete the intersecting lines you have to be in "merge drawing mode". The default is "object drawing mode" In object drawing mode you can't delete the lines cause flash treats the overlapping shapes as one. To get into merge drawing mode click the button showing circle - 2nd from the bottom on the tool bar. To access it you got to select the ellipse tool first. Hope this help.
