To the idiots that think this isnt Jimi, maybe u should buy a hearing aid because if U had a ear for jimis sound ud know straight away its real, obviously u dont know shit about Jimi. Maybe U should listen to some britney spears instead. I had the book & still have the CD. Im sick of idiots that talk crap about Jimi, shut the hell up & listen to the music. U might learn something.
of course it's not fake, the tape had these songs recorded as stated bellow, also you can hear Jimi talking and singing too... It's always funny when phone starts to ring in the last song and Jimi starts to sing "ain't got time, ain't got time..." instead of the lyrics :)
I knew 30 seconds in this was JIMI. It's an amazing example of how there is just something in the fingers..the way a musician touchs the insturment that gives it a tone and it's like a finger print. Call it soul? I don't know--but it may be as close as we'll ever get to what the soul is on earth. You can't see it but you sure can hear it!
This is RARE only available from the book "Voodoo Child: The Illustrated Legend of Jimi Hendrix" by Martin I. Green and Bill Sienkiewicz, 1995. Recorded in April '68 in a NYC hotel room - Jimi alone on electric. These really merit a re-release in some form or other (on Dagger?). The version of "1983" is just beautiful, and "Angel" stayed just long enough for afternoon tea, and appeared on "Lifelines".
Amazing, Jimi lets go in solos & rhythms, changes pinch, pace speed and plays with sounds spraying light and colors in them more then ever. Purple haze brought out into sunshines
Thanks for posting this...you don't get many chances to hear Jimi fool around like this. He's still Jimi without the feedback and the fuzz. An absolute MASTER! Thanks again.
I'm pretty sure he is playing his Stratocaster through an amp here. There are whammy bar dips at 2:20. He just has the volume low on the amp (no preamp overdrive, etc). It still sounds great!

not sure if its an acoustic. sounds like a straight up Strat and an Amp with no distortion pedals.
however he has played with a Gibson but not often.
only thing i know he never donned was a Les Paul.
whatever he's playin with here sounds great though. :D
cydonianman 4 years ago
my mistake...i read somewhere he owned a Les Paul custom as well.
