  • I normally keep the pieces bigger than that, also before I mash I'll add margarine and milk. Never felt the need to season with salt as even salt reduced butter / margarine should be enough.

  • 11 people don't like mash!!!! WHAT!!!

  • Can I replace fresh milk with evaporated milk?

  • @LegoLover33 Yes, that's fine ;)

  • hahaha i don't know why this was in my related videos, but i was thinking who doesn't know how to make mashed potatoes and i remembered once my mums friend called my mum and asked her how to make it and i was laughing. i thought it was funny because even i knew how to make it and i can't make many things at all.

cool video though :) now i want mashed potatoes. good on ya hahaha

  • why are the eggs necessary?

  • @dreadoll1 There are no eggs in this recipe ;)

  • @dreadoll1 where did u see eggs? lol

  • thank you sooooo much.....making mash potatoes is easier then i thought :D

  • is it okay to use sun flower oil rather than the butter ?

  • Great video! My dad is a mashed potato champ. I feel I should be as well

  • dont trust skinny cocks this dude knows whats up. :)

  • can you use a blender?

  • @bohol120696 I would not, it will get kind of sticky since the blender would break off all the starch from the potatoes...

  • @bohol120696 NO! what ever you do don't use a blender It'll turn into a glue, I tried that before and I just threw them all :(

  • Can I add cheese instead of milk..? Because my house is out off milk ;(

  • TIGER WOODS!!!

  • thanks mate, really helpful!

  • Legend, :)

  • It is amazing the number of videos to do obvious things. Are there really that many people out there that cant cook?I have always liked cooking or baking,Where i work they make a lot of soups, but there idea of a soup is something that has a lot of fat in it,and it is no trick to make something taste good when you add fat.

  • can you male some cheesy wedges?

  • Hey david :) If I add cream cheese because my family lovess cheese then that would make it creamy enough right? no need to add sour cream or milk....?

  • Comment removed

  • @demelza9910 Yes, you could use cream cheese if you like :)

  • @OnePotChefShow thankyou for taking the time out to reply =) Also I just made some, big hit among my family.thanks a bunch!

  • thats not how you test to see if potatoes are done. two methods, both of which need to be done, poke with a fork and the force to fully impale the piece must be constant, and compress it and it should break apart without any crunching of the potato.

  • Great Video!!! Thank You Very Much!!!

  • love it!!!

  • David i love your videos and how you explain it so much that I feel compelled to ask you to please don't forget to exercise.. just out of care..

  • whats the difference between butter and margarine?

  • @BloodyBonned Butter is made from animal products, while margarine is generally made from vegetable oil ;)

  • your eyes are very mesmerizing

  • OMG its 11:40pm at the moment, im sorry family this is happening.

  • They look so good. If you make the mashed potatoes, I'll make the gravy. Yum!

  • press 3 repeatedley and it looks like hes fingering the potatos ;)

  • Is it a must to put salt and pepper to make the mashed potato taste better?

  • @KiddyPie123 It's always good to use seasoning, but it's not essential :)

  • Yummy! :D

  • nice with meatballs yummmmmmmmmmmm

  • delicious!

  • haha ur BIG :D so im gona trust u :D

  • You have nice eyes.

  • u have strange eyes

  • sorry for the typos haha

  • HEY ONE POT CHEF! I AM UR BIGGEST FAN! WELL IM SURE IM ONE MANY ATLEAST! For something different mix up ur mashed potatoes, add butter a little milk if needed, sourcream cooked and crumbled bacon and shredded cheese...theres grrrrrrreat! ;) nice video those potatoes looked yummmmmy!

  • Did the first one have lumps in it still? I don't like lumps in mash but I don't like it sloppy either :S

  • @DeathAfterLif3 Then mash it until the lumps are gone ;)

  • yuuuummmmmmm

  • hey my dad puts garlic and a egg then blends it. it is amazing u should try it!!!!

  • You should try adding some chopped onions, it's delicious!

  • Wow, that's one hell of a table spoon. More like a cup.

  • The 15-20 minutes, I guess you start counting after the water starts boiling?

  • @arkazain Yes ;)

  • I like adding a couple of garlic cloves, cheese and spice to my mashed potatoes! put it inside burger and indulge! hmmmmmm ..

  • where did you buy your masher?

  • @kalni100 It's just a cheap one I bought from my local supermarket :)

  • I live in the USaA, how many potatoes do you really need.

  • @arrysortanez 1 Kilogram = roughly 2 pounds of potatoes - or however much you need to feed the amount of people you are serving ;)

  • In Portugal, we put also nutmeg.

  • nice recipe but i think u should have put half as much milk u used and other half double cream also ur patatos need to be boiled for 20/25 minutes urs looked still a little hard u should be able to stick a knife in an the patato just fall apart lol

  • How come when you added the butter, you stired it with a spoon? I thought you would have continued mashing it with the masher?

    Anyway, great job!

    ~HappyChap :)

  • i want to marry this man!

  • Can I send you a big cyber cuddle?

  • I love your recipes (well...this isn't exactly a recipe, is it...well...it's yummy!) thank you so much for sharing! My dad likes to whip his potatoes with a whisk and they are really smooth, but my mom and sister like them chunky ( it makes my mouth feel numb!) I personally like the whipped potatoes, which do you like?

  • @Dogsandblogs I like them firm but smooth - but when it comes to Mashed Potato - I'm happy anyway it comes :)

  • Hot milk!! not so much butter!! good enough

  • looks lumpy lol

  • 1:26 I'm just gonna take :S HAHA :D

  • -sigh- i luv ur accent :I

  • Mash potato is like a pet to me.

    With bangers of course:D

  • It also helps to put a lot of salt in the water while the potatos are cooking so the salt brings out the potato flavor. By adding salt after they've cooked you're essentially just making them saltier. Try adding it to the water and see how the flavor develops, I bet you'll love it

  • God I love how simple and informative you are. Wow I never even thought about this. When I made the Shepards Pie I used the instant mashed - which came out delicious. :3

  • To make it more silky and smoothe.. I use a little bit of milk, 2 - 3 spoon worths of sour cream, and a handful of cheeze :)

  • Mmmm those mashed potatoes look like they would taste great with a meatloaf.

  • can you upload a video on how to make the gravy..

  • this is the only way mash potato should be cooked ^_^

  • One table spoon...........right ;)

  • D: potatoess!yum

you have pretty blue eyes :O

  • Thats how I make my mashed potatoes too, with the milk

  • yum :)

  • they say never trust a skinny chef!! so I will use your recipe's thanks

  • another excellent way to get them creamy is to use a hand mixer on them! i add milk, butter, and sometimes a few giant handfuls of shredded sharp white cheddar cheese! delicious.

  • Yes your eyes are a beautiful blue, LOVE the potato recipe, I admit, hubby and I use more potatoes and add a stick of butter Eeek, DELICIOUS lol

  • What kind of potatoes are they? And where's the gravy?

Oh yeah, and that looked a lot more like 3 tablespoons than 1.

  • I used plain washed potatoes for this recipe.

I used 1 metric Tablespoon - the spoon size may differ in other countries. Although I will admit I was a little generous with the butter!!!

  • before adding the potatoes and water, sweat some diced onions, garlic, and celery, add the potatos and use chicken broth instead of water. Mash the potatoes without draining out the broth, add fresh thyme, heavy cream, cover and simmer over low heat for 30 minutes, and you have amazing potato soup.

  • do your own vid leave his alone
