ohh that's the problem of my country, the university network is not very good (except pompeu fabra, autonoma barcelona and carlos III) and the relationship with the bussines is very little.. so, the competitiveness is not as goog as it should be. Everybody waits for a public action to solve any problem ("daddy goverment!") and the innovation, creation, etc is very poor. My country has a strong economy, but the model is weak (Spain). By the way.. Switcheland coming apart, completly.
Healthcare in Switzerland is universal but mostly private (mandatory private insurance, like in Holland). And swiss public sector pays 25% of health costs, while american pays 50%
USA is also an exception in higher education. Is the only western country where the private spending per capita needed to achieve a PhD Degree is higher than the public spending. Maybe that´s why 60 out of 100 best Universities in the world are american. Maybe that´s why 1/3 of Nobel laureates were born in USA and another 1/3 studied, researched and taught there.
Brave man, I admire him, I`m from the same damn pathetic little country.

And it only took George Bush 8 years to do this... he was quite a leader, obviously good for other nations.
Of the top ten countries which do not have universal health plans for their citizens...
