I love putting all my gear on and doing displays for schools. It was amazing to me, while I was in school, to realize how much more I learned when I saw reenactors and eventually becoming a reenactor than when I read it from a book. Living it, seeing it in front of you and feeling the way it was, history comes alive. It's much easier to learn when you can touch it then when you have to imagine it.

@cheeseshoes both sides did it and it wasnt dirty warfare. the tactic of destroying resources is common and quite the norm back then. it was to make an impact so painful that there could be no immediate recovery for the confederate army. to call someone a sick son of a bitch for admiring well exicuted military campaign is dumb. and the union army did nothing but destroy recources and minor foraging.

wow im a reenactor, and dang i wish i could be as beautiful as the civilian girl reenactor. as a civilian reenactor i know how rough it is wearin no makeup, middle part,etc. but dang if we could all bea as purdy as her we would be good:) i wish i could go to a school and do a presentation for them. i love hisotyr and i do love fightin too.

dude hell yeah. its called a living history day. just pick a day that everybody in your unit can take off work for a day and go do a mock battle at a school. its simple. you could also do one at a library or something like that. you are a reenactor yes? if not just go to an actual reenactment. the Perryville reenactment is coming up soon in Tennessee
