the part holding in the firing pin is called firing "pin stop", while you are there cleaning that as you suggested with a q-tip, it is a very good idea to remove the extractor and clean it as well each time, it gets loaded with carbon and will cause failure to eject
kudos to your video though, the gun world needs more folks getting involved
@nowayhowisthat Thanks! No, not yet. I'd like to do some more comprehensive tear down videos of it and I need to do a general update of my experience with it. I need to make some time to have some time and I just haven't done that recently. =)
Dude, seriously. The name of the video is "remove firing pin" and it takes you over 4 minutes of flapping your gums before you remove the firing pin. Seriously?
@jwgkeohane dude, just because your smart enough not to use the extra talk (which im not saying you are) some people probably find this video very helpful. so why make a comment like that? and remember your the one that probably watched the video because you didn't know how to.. just saying
Great Video, just learned something new. Mine was super dirty but not anymore. If you have anymore tips about the Ultra Carry please let us know. I want to get in to the main spring, safety area to clean back there now.
I depress the firing pin block push the firing pin in with a punch that is just a bit smaller than the firing pin and release the firing pin block it will hold the firing pin in and the firing pin retaining plate will slide out and then depress the firing pin block and the firing pin will pop out. And make sure you keep your thumb over the firing pin.
Another great video. When I remove from my firing pin from the CDP, I make sure to use objects softer than the metal the gun is made of to lessen the chances of scratching. One slip and you've sent a scratch down the side of your gun with a screw driver. Believe it or not, plastic chop sticks work great for areas one could lose control of the pressure point.
Awesome video. You answered several questions I had about changing the firing pin and even explained why my slide keeps getting locked when I'm putting the gun back together. I'll keep my hand off the grip saftey next time.
