Lol at the end, it's top high tech information! xD Well, it def was then, but it's so odd seeing this sort of thing again, back when the net was new. xD
It had already informally been called that for years before so it made sense to do it like that. Anyway, the 1997 system of 'CBBC ONE', 'CBBC TWO' and 'CBBC CHOICE' is still superior to the "Children's BBC on 1" before then or "CBBC on 1" like today.
@ghpg2008 What a joke!!!! Internet in 1995 was so slow and mundane! All of these big sites like Facebook,Twitter,Youtube,Myspace la di da da,came on the scene pretty much at the same time.First time my parents even got a computer and dial up was in 1998,and we were one of the first in our community to get it.
I know that LOL!!!! I meant the same time as in within a year or two of each other.Yes Myspace-2003,Facebook 2004,Youtube 2005 and Twitter 2006.I also meant that in 1995,there wasn't even such thing as 'social networking'.Phrased the wrong way.
I never knew of anyone at that time to have the internet, If I had i'm sure either they were wealthy or just spoilt little bastards, Either way, I wouldn't have been friends with them.
Stupidly long addresses like that were common in the early days of the internet. I don't think that address was round for long, I think by the end of the year it was down to the more sensible bbc(dot)co(dot)uk(slash)childrens. It's hard now though to imagine a time when hardly anyone like the internet, and having someone like a webs site was high-tech and exciting. Yet it wasn't that long ago really.
I'm tryna find a place on the net to watch old bbc shows like kerching and all those that remind me of being young (although i wasnt that young with kerching) but i cant find anywhere :(
Its just youtube and youtube cant put whole programs on
I didnt have it at home until April 1999 when I was 15. I first went online in December 1997 when my high school got the net. Back in 1995 it was a high tech thing I had only heard about on the X-files and that cheese spread advert.
i didn't have broadband internet till 2007 :/ dial-up was such a pain.

I'm guessing the studio didn't have net access which explains why we saw only the URL and their screensaver ?
I remember in the early days Terry Wogan suffering and confusing his dots and back slashes and stuff. Good times.

Back in the day it would have taken 20 miuntes to download even this short video clip, or longer.
I was also one of those people who said that the internet would never catch on. Now the world would be in chaos without it.

Everything was longer back then. They don't even call it Children's BBC anymore; it's just CBBC.

Incidentally, the "nc" stood for "Networking Club"
"Internet - networking"? Yeah, i know . . .
Typical "cool" BBC using "networking" instead of "internet"
