@BotanyVideo - I just watched Pollination the Movie, and thank you for bringing it to my attention. Are they your photographs? The quality is superb!
@kalacaw - yes all photographs are mine - with an Olympus FE-340 handheld. I bought it because it has supermacro - not just flower - superflower too. Thanks - and thanks pollinator partnership for your work.
@BotanyVideo The Pollinator Partnership is very important to me though. It's the desire to use my account to some positive advantage. I drove to DC that day looking for something useful to film, but had no particular agenda. I didn't know about the Pollinator Partnership until that day. it's an honor to have met the people in the video.
And I'm honored to meet you. You deserve a round of applause for your work!
This is a wonderful program. This is an excellent video and very informative. I am so glad I got a chance to see it. Pls keep up the great work in featuring these wonderful programs and educating us.
Hi Chito! Thank you for seeing this! I know you're traveling right now, and it's very kind of you to include this video in your schedule. Thanks so much!
I'm retired, and this is a way for me to continue contributing when possible. We try! :)
Cool video Betty! I had no idea about National Pollinator Week until now. Yep, pollinating insects are vital. It's horrible about the declining bee population. Hopefully that won't continue. I remember when I was a kid it was almost impossible to walk through a field of clover barefooted because of the bees. Now I only see a few bees on those same patches of clover.
Hi Robert! I'm so glad you saw this, and very honored. I just happened upon these good folks when I went to the Museum of Natural History. I didn't know about it either, but it's the third year for this event. I'm quite sure this is a big deal to you, given what you do with your land. Yes, I have noticed the same decline, and it breaks my heart.
And I appreciate corn on an entirely new level now. :)
Hi Elaian! or Elaina ... if that is, in fact, your real name. Haha!
My passion is new found, although I've been interested in this general subject for years. Honestly, if you plant or anything, it's just a matter of being aware of the best species for this situation (native species which attract pollinators). The planting guides are marvelous resources, and easy to work through.
I'm just trying to do my part to help. :)
Signed,
Berty, or Betty, if that is, in fact, my real name. :D
Hi Bianca! How are you? :) I can understand the fear. I'm not unsympathetic at all, and it's great that you can keep a balance about this. It's definitely important. All the comments have been positive and understanding. Some have seemed to notice local declines, so they haven't needed convincing.
Tony, I'm glad you saw this and I'm grateful that you're passing it along! This message is truly important. There are a lot of resources on the Pollinator Partnership website that your friend can use, if he or she is not using them already. Thank you so much! :)
Irene, thanks for seeing this! I have become a bit passionate in recent weeks, since I've been reading about the general subject and current issues. The poster is available for only S&H from the Pollinator Partnership website, btw, if they still have any. It's of good quality and I'm framing mine. :)
Oh, I love butterflies too! I have them here as well. When I moved here, I had a pond constructed to provide a fresh water source for birds, and because of the pond plants, now I see more butterflies and bees. I wasn't thinking about that at the time, but I'm glad it worked out so well.
Good for you! You're helping pollinating animals too! I've had so many favorable responses to this video, and it's heartening that people are receptive to this message.
That guy! I watched, thinking "Yup! That's our Stefan!" Ordinarily I'd say that personal protective equipment and cardboard should never go in the same sentence, but we're talking about debstef. What are ya gonna do (she asked, with resignation)? :D
On a serious note, he couldn't bring himself to destroy those bees, and I can't help but love him for it.
You have a great day too, ZT. I want every day to be that for you.
Thanks for the growth of my brain, muaz. This was a wonderfull video and I love hearing you speak, your voice is so soothing and makes me feel fuzzy. I hope you have the most wonderfull day today. *****
I never saw the CT scan, dear friend of mine, but I happen to know you have a magnificent brain. You've brought me a few fuzzy moments in life too, you know.
It's good to see the subtitles, some of that traffic is really loud! The insects ARE under stress because we're constantly bombarding them with chemicals and pollution and it's not good for them OR us! Thanks for the information!
Rowdy, I haven't used pesticides here, but I would only suggest that people apply no more than is recommended by the directions, and as Ms. Adams said, to use it when there isn't bloom.
Thanks for mentioning the captions! That was a vexing process because of the background and color contrast issues. If it served in the end, I'm very glad. Thanks. :)
There's a small wasp nest inside one of my wooden bird feeders. I wasn't sure what to do, and I didn't want to try to cope with it, so I decided (as though I had some level of power in this - haha) to let them have it. The birds have another feeder now. :)
Ben and Jerry's - it was a must-have that day. I'll tell Amanda. She'll love that.
I can't really answer your question. Scientists are studying this still, but I think they're looking at a variety of possible causal factors, from habitat loss to misuse of pesticides. There also seems to be an issue with Varroa mites and honey bees, but I don't know enough to talk about it. I honestly wish I knew more to tell you.
Hey DC! I wasn't familiar with it either, until I had the good fortune of walking into the National Pollinator Week event in D.C. I'm learning as much as I can though, and it seems like the best thing to say is that creating a pollinator-friendly habitat is always helpful.
Suddenly I'm reminded of those delicious pancakes you served for breakfast the other day. Now I'm hungry! :D
TBF! Thank you! This turned out to be, as I mentioned to another You Tuber, a labor of love. I didn't know how much interest I would end up having in this effort when I met the people in the video. This has my attention now though. Thanks for watching. :)

Kim, I'm very glad the video served. I've spent a great deal of time reading the information on the Pollinator Partnership site, and it's been quite a learning experience. :)
You said it, Betty. We're doing this for future generations. If we don't, what will they have? Nothing!
Pollination is a complex science, and it's a science that was not created by humans. It was created by insects. It's perpetuated by insects. They're the only ones who know how to do it right. If we don't respect that, we're doomed.
Well, birds and bats too Moosie, but insects are responsible for a lot of it, and I've heard Dr. Buchmann refer to bees as the "champion pollinators." And we really do need them. You're right about that.
I'd forgotten a lot of the basics. You know, the usual stuff we all learned in school, but I've been reading so much lately that I am more in love with this subject every day. To be honest, I just took most of this for granted before. Anything I did in my yard that was correct was a fluke.
Why, thank you Disc! That is a very nice compliment, and I'm going to sleep well tonight. The subject matter makes me wish I were more of a professional though. This deserves the best attention. I'm still happy though. Thanks for the kind comment! :)
Know what? It just occurred to me to wonder what they're talking about in the classroom at her grade level. If I were the school principal, I would think about having the children maintain a pollination garden. For all I know though, they're already doing something like that.
Thank you Anna! I have been reading so much about this subject lately. My initial interest was in birdwatching. I've been away from that for several years, but this has renewed my interest in all things nature. i have a lot to learn about pollinating animals now. :)
Thank you so much for using my music. You know, that really went well at the beginning!! And the best part, We're trying to help animals. I SUPPORT YOU, and will JOIN YOU!!
You are totally MY HERO! I knew you would. We get along anyway and have the same sense of humor and stuff. That means a lot to me.
We have two shared missions, don't we? This encompasses "our children" and all the children. We can thank a pollinator for one of every three bites of food, so this is pretty important.
Peter, I very much appreciate that you let me use your music. Thanks buddy. :)
Thanks Cameron. This video was truly a labor of love, and I appreciate your kindness. I love bees, but I'm not insensitive. I know if they bother you they bother you. I have a friend like that, and she says basically the same thing. She knows we need them, etc. It's just about the same thing you said. :)
Betty this is an excellent video, there is a definite decline in the bee population in our area.I buy honey locally and the guy i buy it from told us his dad lost half his hives this year all ready. Its scary!
Hi Freda dear! I would suspect. I've been reading about this issue in the U.K. I'm sorry. I wish I had the knowledge in my head that the people I interviewed have so I could say something more definitive. I've just read a few articles about Colony Collapse Disorder problem there. Well, we're doing what we can, and the scientists are doing what they can, so hopefully we can turn this around. :)
Hugs back, and thank you for watching! I believe you're right. I have, to date, enjoyed the relatively small subscriber base that (usually) seems to fly under the radar of those who would leave less-than-useful comments. I'm just looking for community here, but on this occasion, I wish I could reach many more like us. :)
Such an important cause and you're actually doing something about it, wonderful. Love bees and have noticed that there have been fewer and fewer around in the last years. Rarely I see them now. I think we haven't historically considered insects in the same way as other animals, but we really can't do without them. It's a matter of public awareness.
All you have to do to get my attention is talk about ice cream. If they had done that in school, I would have been a straight "A" student. :D
Betty - Loved it! You did an excellent job. Even though I try to be as respectful as possible to our little pollinators, ie - I don't use chemicals on my plants...I know there is more I can do - can't wait to go to the site & learn more...
Best info vid I think I've ever seen here on YT...you done good! Right down to the very end - it's great!!! lol
Hi Ali! I'm just so glad you like it! I don't use any chemicals in my yard either. I don't know about the previous owner but I've been here for eight years. It's a personal decision. Ms. Adams referred to "judicious use," and that seems most logical. "Please follow the directions," I always say.
I was pleased with myself, because I learned in the course of reading that I have done some other things correctly too. I have more to do, and I'm motivated! Thanks for your kind comment! :)
Well, I'm retired so I'm just trying to continue to do something useful when possible. Sometimes my videos are silly, and you' ve seen that. I am also here for friendship, and you've certainly given that to me. I do appreciate it, and it means a lot. We truly are community. :)
Thanks Ben! I see that you've attached a video so I must go see it as soon as I've answered these comments. Yes, public awareness. There is a great video favorited on the Pollinator Partnership YT channel. The video maker has over 80,000 subs so her video has seen an enormous number of views. I need to put a link to the PP YT channel in the description too. I forgot to do that. Thanks again, Ben!
Yay! That's always a nice thing to hear! I wish I could spend time with you and learn more about what you're doing. Ever since I've been reading about this, I've wanted more and more to learn first hand. It's great to read this comment though, I don't mind telling you!

Haha! You know, I almost became an astronaut because of that freeze dried ice cream, but then I tasted it.

To be honest I never thought of it this way.
Betty you are a sort of a mini TV Channel and this is the reason I always watch your videos.
You are so great beautiful Lady and always ready to smile to people.
I love being surrounded by people like you.
