  • I liked this video and song as a twelve year old. Now i'm listening to black metal as a 17 year old and I still like it :P

  • @warzoneproduction Metalhead tot the bone :D

  • there is no favourite album, there is a favourite hexalogy, favourite, eternal

  • /watch?v=rF_J5USkHrA&feature=related

  • I've always imagined Bal-Sagoth to be more "barbarian metal", closer to Conan the Barbarian than Lord of the Rings, but this union of savage tunes and high fantasy film clips is simply brilliant! The blood of a thousand sacrificed slaves and all respect to the creator!

  • The Dark Liege Of Chaos is Unleashed At The Shrine of Azura Kai (The Splendour of a Thousand Swords Gleaming Beneath The Blazon of the Hyperborean *Biiiig breath* Empire Part 2) What a mouthful.

  • @Spencer12404 Ensorcelled Shrine even! ;) Hail bal sagoth!

  • @Saruman007 Yeah I did that from memory then realized when I went to check it :P

  • This song has the most coolest "B-section" ever, Starting "By the darkling powers of the..." Very cool indeed!

  • Epic!

  • hilarious/filarmonic band/quality/power/symphonic metal... although i like it xD

  • awesome!!nice combination opf the 2 : song and movie. thanks for posting here online in Youtube, have a good week!bye

  • finally a half-way decent lotr-fan-music-vid!

  • <3 <3

  • This music sounds like it belongs in a pirate movie, not LOTR.

  • hahahah... shut up

  • This is amazing !!!!

  • yeah, this is cool.

  • Awesome but I don't understand the song a little ( the part where a voice appear) but I fav it!

  • where are they come from?

  • England if I remember correctly

  • @zacre

    Yorkshire, England

  • One Of The Most Fantastic Videos I Ever Saw In My Life. IT has inspired me to read the great book once again. Thank You Kulja for this magnificent work

  • Awesome. It's like it's ment for lotr.. :O

  • You may have a little nob, but everyone else appreciates this video. ;)

  • So why are you here? Or do you gleen great pleasure from watching things that don't interest you?

    Strange boy.

  • no i was just looking for something else.

  • what' the name of this song ?

  • The Splendour Of A Thousand Swords Gleaming Beneath The Blazon Of The Hyperborean Empire Part: 2

  • thanks

  • from which album?

  • From "Battle Magic", released in 1998.

  • Technically, it's

The Dark Liege Of Chaos Is Released At The Ensorcelled Shrine Of A'Zura Kai (The Splendour Of A Thousand Swords Gleaming Beneath The Blazon Of The Hyperborean Empire: Part 2)

  • You're almost right... it's "unleashed", not "released".

  • Now THIS is badass. Great vid.

  • I have now seen Bal Sagoth to this movie, Ensiferum as well. But I have yet to see Kromlek.

  • Instumentals on here sound extremely symphonic. Anyone here heard of Symphony X or any of their epics?

  • This is just about my favourite Video EVER!

  • Bal-sagoth rules!

but i like Atlantis ascendant better

  • what's the name of this song??

  • this is "The Splendor of a Thousand Swords Gleaming Beneath the Blazon of the Hyperborean Empire Part 2" and yes, they did parts 1 and 3 too! Hail Bal Sagoth!

  • The main title for this song is "The Dark Liege of Chaos is Unleashed"

  • The song's full and correct title is "The Dark Liege of Chaos is Unleashed at the Ensorcelled Shrine of A'zura-Kai (The Splendour of a Thousand Swords Gleaming Beneath the Blazon of the Hyperborean Empire Part: II)"

  • All the Bal-Sagoth songs are crowning of musicianship and songwriting. If any musician would need inspiration then they just should listen to B-S. After that their thoughts of melodies and arrangements will sparkle up in minds like the poops in the bath! :)

Bal-Sagoth is the leader of elit metalbands!

  • ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I cant tell you people how many time I have watched this and all I can say if wow great job :D

  • NICE!!!!!

  • coool i love it i`ll watch again .... it is great

  • Wow! Peeps is fighting! You know, I was a wee bit skeptical about this Bal-Sagoth band but they rock pretty hard!

  • looks like someone is on their special time of the month again. shit!

  • *I meant 'live with them', before anyone makes up anything funny. Oh, what the hell, i practically want a nice internet punch in the face, seriously. That's how pointless this whole thing is. Thats why i laugh, at ALL OF YOU! And myself, for being faggy and joining in.

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP HOMO

  • do you have nothing better to do in your small pathetic and meaningless life?

  • well you must be a faggot wizard nerd too if my comment upset you, so why dont you go crawl back into your lonely hole and play some more world of warcraft little bitch

  • you cant even formulate a constructive argument, is your IQ 12?

  • im not trying to formulate a constructive argument with you, i dont talk to faggots.

  • at least they've done something with their lives, your the fucking nerd who will never get a girlfreind, never get laid, purely becuase you are a sad asshole that disses greatness!

  • "Make shit up"hmm yes that makes alot of sense you smelly butt-fucker.

  • Im insecure? thats funny coming from someone that spends their spare time trying to start internet fights. sounds to me like youre having some troubles in your personal life, did your boyfriend dump you? or are you just not getting any sex? You still havent come up with an intelligent argument, when do you turn 6? and PLEASE stop repeating yourself, 'wizard nerd' 'faggots' doesnt make you big and tough

  • BAHA! LOL LOL! I dont even like bal-sagoth, except for callisto rising. Im not English. Im not a virgin. take some of your own advice, coming on here trying to sledge peoples taste in music doesnt make you sound cool, it makes you sound like a dick head. I dont get upset, definately not at someone as petty and pathetic as you. you seem to have a lot of pent up anger, were you molested as a child? is that where your obsession for cock began

  • Excellently done!

This is fucking epic! The originally music of LOTR is good... but this makes even better!

  • thats great quality for youtube

  • Actually the song is Splendour of a thousand swords gleaming beneath the blazon of the hyperborean empire part 2

  • the music and video are awesome :D luve this kind of combo :D

  • I BOW !!!

  • plz any1 that likes bal sagoth listen 2 summoning - over old hills or any of there song ty

  • Hm, cool music! I didn't hear about this band earlier... It's really cool :D and vid ofcourse is awesome ^^

  • ya deopsi is right...theres too much things u can feel when u listen to Bal sagoth...

but i wonder where they get the lyrics and how the make it to fit with the music style...

six score and 10, etc says was taken by a book in the england library...well any1 knows?

  • The book that the lyrics say was found in the library, and also the library itself, were made up by the singer for the story. Thats one of the things I love about Bal Sagoth, the whole attention to detail.

  • Would that book involve Conan the Barbarian, by chance?

(I heard the word "Hyperboria" somewhere in there.)

  • their version of Hyperborea is more based on the ancient Greek myth of Hyperborea.

But yes, Bal Sagoth are very inspired by writers like Robert E. Howard and H.P. Lovecraft, and also Tolkien. :)

  • alot of famouse black and unblack metal bands are gfood. but you do hav a point some of the best music is unfamouse but it doesnt help alot of soun quality . but i rather play music for the fun of it rather then cash.

  • there so much confusion and madness with the lyrics and sounds that even a salvador dali painting seems to make more sense :)

thats what i love on this band! tha contrast of feelings as u said , and ofcourse the powerfull sound. i hope someday we see them live here in greece. bal sagoth rule ! lotr rules! metal forever!

  • deopisi i agree with u my friend. bal sagoth are just great , unique and their style seems to approach more sth like heavy metal epic poetry than a simple metal sound. that was the first (and favorite one) bal sagoth song i ever heard and takes me back to the '98 (in my school heavy metal years).

  • aaah i'm a Bal sagoth convert!!! lol brilliant stuff!!

  • I LOVE BAL-SAGOTH, is one of my favourite band. Their style is so unique, really hard to describe. I don't know why but they are not very famous, although I think they are MUCH better than A LOT of bands. They transmit so many beautiful emotions... not anger or scorn but inner calm, power, bravery, peace and quiet... not usual for an extreme band! I hope they will return to make music

  • Because they 're good.Thats why they re not famous.

  • ?!?!? no, maybe their music is too particular for a big public

  • I don't know if it's because I live relatively close to where they come from or not but they're a pretty well known metal band here. Not "mainstream" but they definitely have a following.

  • i m glad to hear that.because i dont want them to stop!

  • actually..whats the name of this song?? bec i read one comment saying this was to deth-throne the witch queen etc.. and this is a 2n part of a song (1st the splendour of a 1K swords, 3rd cry havoc for glory etc) well reply me k? l8r

  • the complete name of this song is: "The Dark Liege of Chaos Is Unleashed at the Ensorcelled Shrine of A'Zura Kai (The Splendour of a Thousand Swords Gleaming Beneath the Blazon of the Hyperborean Empire Part II)"

Its in the "Battle Magic" album (1998).

The 1st part (the best IMO) is called "simply": "The Splendour of a Thousand Swords Gleaming Beneath the Blazon of the Hyperborean Empire"

It is included in the "Starfire Burning upon the Ice-veiled Throne of Ultima Thule" album (1996).

  • ty a lot...nice tips..

  • The 3rd part is called: "Cry Havoc for Glory, and the Annihilation of the Titans of Chaos (The Splendour of a Thousand Swords Gleaming Beneath the Blazon of the Hyperborean Empire, Part III)"

and its included in the "Atlantis Ascendant" album (2001).

its hard to explain this without exceed the characters limit per comment xD...

  • well...u r stil missing 164 chars for the full comment. anyway ty a lot. bal sagoth rocks!! --!--

  • man, i was trying to write it in a single box... but it was impossible xD...

  • bal sagoth - he dark liege of the chaos is unleashed at the ensorgelled shrine of a'zura-kai

  • the beginning reminded me of power rangers, the whole face close up, fire and epic guitar lol

  • One of the most epic songs by Bal-sagoth yet.

  • lmao!

  • also known as: "The Splendor Of A Thousand Swords Gleaming Beneath The Blazon Of The Hyperborean Empire: Part 2". And yes, there are parts 1 and 3, also! Fucking EPIC.

  • or... The Dark Liege of Chaos Is Unleashed at the Ensorcelled Shrine of A'Zura Kai (The Splendour of a Thousand Swords Gleaming Beneath the Blazon of the Hyperborean Empire Part II)

  • wich are the names of part 1 and 3?? isnt splendour of 1K swords part 1 ?? or i have to read it again...

  • 1 - The Splendour of a Thousand Swords Gleaming Beneath the Blazon of the Hyperborean Empire

3 - Cry Havoc for Glory, and the Annihilation of the Titans of Chaos (The Splendour of a Thousand Swords Gleaming Beneath the Blazon of the Hyperborean Empire, Part III)

  • and this song : to deth-throne the with-queen is second part righ?

  • No, To Dethrone The Witch-Queen of Mytos K'unn (The Legend of the Blackhelm Vale) has nothing to do with The Splendour of a Thousand Swords Part 1 The only relation is that To Dethrone and The Splendour 1 are in the same album.

  • wtf - its amazing music

  • what is the song?

  • The dark liege of chaos is unleashed

  • Bal Sagoth and Summoning should have made soundtrack... Perhaps a different version of the movie: "Lord of the rings - A metalhead version now including Bal Sagoth, Summoning, Blind Guardian..." :)

  • Exacly....

  • If they remade lord of the rings they shouls put Bal sagoths music in place of there old music. :)

  • Great job, the song fits perfectly with the video. 5 stars!

  • This video and this song fit better than most of those below give credit for, OK its not Lord of the rings song (thank christ) but both are about epic battles and huge armies of men and creatures facing eachother. Sweet.

  • yea!!! my uncle rocks lead singer of balsagoth !!!!

  • this dude is my uncle YEA!!!!

  • i love this video tios cool

  • whats this song called and what albums it on?

  • This is "The Splendour of a Thousand Swords Gleaming Beneath the Blazon of the Hyperborean Empire: Part 2" from their album "Battle Magic".

  • pretty short name for a song

  • lol

  • That was totally awesome. I rather enjoyed it.

  • lol, doesn't fit in with the video at all.

  • gayest hip-hopper putting up the comment above.

  • human being cannot be this epic that mans voice

  • That's definetly the wrong song for LOTR. It pisses me off

  • it's pretty good

song reminds me of a metal Golden Axe!

  • just cool.

Bal sagoth rules, and the song fits perectly with the video, even if lotr´s history has nothing in common with the song´s history.

just don´t think "it is lotr"

  • For all the fuckwits laboring under misapprehensions, Bal Sagoth do not sing about LOTR, and this song is not based on LOTR. Somebody simply made this video from LOTR footage and put it to a Bal Sagoth song.

  • Never has music failed to capture the mood of a film quite so spectacularly as this!

  • kinda "power rangers" song

  • hehe

  • Bal Sagoth are awesome. They Hyperborean Empire is one of the greatest tales of all time. Make a few alterations to the video and it would be perfect.

  • the song dont fit the vid srry

  • Yes it does. Especially when they start singing "Minions of Chaos!"

  • no i dont think so

  • At certain points it doesn't quiet fit. Needs more battle scenes and less of those stupid hobbits. But the music type fits. Bal Sagoth are awesome.

  • nope.........im just sorry. its just the way it is

  • Ah well, each to his own I guess.

The first minute fits well I personally think.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

  • actually...yeah ur right i guess. i didnt watch the whole thing the first time.lol

  • kunnon humppaa tää biisi \,,/ ;D

  • The music doesn't fit by the film

  • serriusly...those names of thier songs, i mean...i dunno if u should laugh or cry, bal sagoth is good othervice, if you dont think of the names

  • Meh, screw you. Bal-Sagoth's "The Splendour of a Thousand Swords Gleaming Beneath the Blazon of the Hyperborean Empire" and Nile's "Papyrus Containing The Spell To Preserve Its Possessor Against Attacks From He Who Is In The Water" are 2 of the greatest song titles EVER. Long titles rule.

  • i never said the songs where bad, i like bla sagoth...but their names....really...ther just not...okay

  • which is the name of this bal-sagoth's song?

  • It's not about Conan the Barbarian's alternate universe at all, it's based on the band's own take on the myth of Hyperborea from Greek mythology. Get your facts right. But yeah, great clip! :D

  • Meh. Same difference. Good music anyways.

  • In fact it's not really based on the Greek's myth of the far northern land either, it's all the band's own fantasy universe with original chatacters. There's even a map for it at their official site.

  • Even though it is about The Battle Of Hyperborea from Conan the Barbarians alternate universe, it's still an Epic clip. Well done.

  • This vid is one of the best of Youtube at all. It's timig is perfect, the only thing is not quite right (but also not totally wrong) is that the lyrics are about a battle for the realm of Hyperborea (a mythical region of Earth where sun never goes down). But it kinda matched perfectly to the LOTR theme... Thank you for providing me these moments of rejoice! This vid's awesome!

  • c dla chiasse

  • qual é o nome dessa musica mesmo? :B

  • It's "The Dark Liege of Chaos is unleashed at the ensorcelled Shrine of A'Zura Kai" by Bal Sagoth from the album Battle Magic...

  • It's "The Dark Liege of Chaos is unleashed at the ensorcelled Shrine of A'Zura Kai" by Bal Sagoth, from the album "Battle Magic"...

  • Otherwise known as "The Splendor of a Thousand Swords Gleaming Beneath the Blazon of the Hyperborean Empire Part: 2". Parts 1 and 3 are on their other albums.

  • lol true !!! its tolkien's art idiots !!! shame of you =\

  • Congratulations sir you are the first ignorant fucktard to post an offensive comment on this vid. You have won a swift kick up the ass for being a twat!

  • The 1st time i read the "lord of the rings" i was hearing this album-just when i bought it.For me listening to it, always i remeber the book.

  • Agree with all of you, someone knows is this leather jacket Byrons is wearing on heathen crusade is still for purchase somewhere? I asked him but he had no idea, cause his is 15 years old.

  • I see leather jackets of that style in places like Harley Davidson stores.

    RIDE THEM DOWN!

  • Love this stuff...Bal-Sagoth are pure class!!!!

  • yeah

and tell them they have another fan of them here in Brazil

    a child...

    with 12 years old...

    ME!

  • thnx guys, nice to hear that so many of you enjoys the video.

I put it together one early morning late 2001 when attending a Lan party. I was using a creener version of the film. That's why I had to make some cuts here and there to prevent the copyright text from ruining everything.

Even though this was ment just for my eyes it made it all the way here, still haunting me. =)

    All hail Bal Sagoth!

  • Reminds me of Warcraft 2..

  • this is something very good and so atmospheric

  • Love it! Bal Sagoths music fits perfectly.

  • Wonderful!!!!!

  • well said!

  • wshats the name to this song

  • it's "The Splendour of a Thousand Swords Gleaming Beneath the Blazon of the Hyperborean Empire Part: 2" from their album "Battle Magic".

  • This is why i can't remember their songs...keep getting the names mixed up.

Why can't they just have named it something shorter instead?

But hell, I love this song.

  • And that's only the part in brackets!

    Full title is:

"The Dark Leige Of Chaos Is Unleashed At The Ensorcelled Shrine Of A'Zura-Kai (The Splendour Of A Thousand Swords Gleaming Beneath The Blazon Of The Hyperborean Empire, Part II)"

Best track on Battle Magic IMHO.
