Are there not inherrent risks in encouraging disassociation between someone and their depression?
In my experience people find it difficult enough to face their own problems, and all too often find excuses to shift the burden of overcoming them onto someone/something else in order to avoid having to deal with it.
If you convince people to think of their depression as a seperate entity, what's to stop them from believing they are not in control of its influence and ultimately feeling powerless?
