Richard Wright was pure magic! R:I.P. Richard. At the evening i have heard that you died i took the "Pompeji" DVD in my DVD Player and enjoyed your keyboard playing.
WOW. Im a guy and there is only one man alive who can move my heart, my soul my very being with his hands and that man is David Gilmour. Take a bow you fcking legend, master at work right here.
David Gilmour is a huge inspiration for my playing."Comfortaby numb" and "Shine on.." are my personal favorites solos. His flawless technique and his soulful licks are unique. Everyone these days can play fast guitar licks but only a few can touch your soul. The right note at the right time.Pure genius.
Some days ago I wrote a song named "Likvidator(the warning)" where the solo is mainly influenced by the way he plays. In some way is my humble tribute to the master(you can listen it on my channel)
I was there the night this was filmed still to this day i get goosebumps everythime i hear this! When the lazers went off everyones jaw dropped. Best gig i've been too!
I was there the night this was filmed still to this day i get goosebumps everythime i hear this! When the lazers went off everyones jaw dropped. Best gig i've been too!
I would like to see DAvid and Roger now! They dont hate each other anymore. It is possible now. I would not of said that five years ago. However, they really could not play alot of songs that heavily involved Rick. Heres a few suggestions. SAn Tropez, Fearless, Dogs, Childshood End
I remember the old days...a friend just had puchased Meddle and we went to his home to hear it and we ended listening to this song more than 20 times in a row...tears of joy!
this whole song is amazing but especially the very end when David and Richard are playing off each other. More than just 2 musicians, 2 old friends who were truly enjoying the interplay and simple songs of their instruments. This was the last time they played together before Richard Wright passed away.
la perfection de l'art on ne pourra plus entendre et voir echoes car david a dit qu'il ne jouerai plus car sans Rick Wright c'est impossible merci messieurs
I must agree. Best DvD I ever purchased. For me, it gets better every time. I also think this is the best line up of musicians Gilmour has ever had. They all seem to be up there for the music and not their own egos. Every single not compliments the song. PERFECTION!
POSITIVELY one of the most INSPIRED performances in the history of recorded music. If you can, buy the DVD and find someone with a excellect quality home theater system and watch this DVD from start to finish. If it doesn't absolutely leave you tears, you might want to check your pulse and make sure your are still alive. There are a lot of versions of this song floating around, but this is EASILY the best of the lot. Just OUTSTANDING! I can't find anything with ENOUGH volume for this.
@Scotts87LX Funny you say this. I actually bought new speakers and reciever for my system after watching this the first time. Totally different experience. Every single sound you hear is in this video for a purpose.
I feel privileged to hear Pink Floyd. This music is something special and I hope they will be in 500 years. Pink Floyd are like Mozart, Beethoven, Beatles and others on the sizes of the millennium. Let there be Rock.
I was at the Massey Hall Toronto show in April 2006. Of all the modern state of the art equipment on stage, there was that relic of a Farsia Organ glowing in the dark before the show. It's highly probable that organ hadn't been used since the '75 Floyd tour,as more modern keyboards have been used since. With Richard gone now,it's highly unlikely it will ever be played again!
I don't know whether I should feel sorry for someone who hasn't seen Gilmour or PF do this live or sorrow for someone who has not. Sorry for them who hasn't is easy to understand but why for someone who has? cause...you want to see it again so badly and it's very likely, most of us will probably never have another chance to do so and we KNOW what we are missing
I do have the Blueray DVD of this performance, it's just great!
@taylander2010 maybe not, but David couldn't've picked a better crew for this one. Just the fact that Richard's on it makes it monumental. God Bless Richard Wright! Nobody could play the Hammond or Farfisa like him...and nobody ever will.
this is not a masterpiece...... this is a whole new level of masterpiece. the human race has no language that contains a word that can describe the unusual aura of this creation.
A while after Richard passed away David said he would never perform this song again, it just wouldn't be the same without good ol' Rick. :( I can understand him though, Rick is on fire throughout this song. I'm glad David took Rick with him to tour back in 2006, apparently Rick said it was one of the most memorable and enjoyable tours he had ever done. Mote intimate venues, like back in the early 70's w. Pink Floyd, not the stadium stuff 1975-1994.
And there still is people in this world that don't see how beautiful it is. Pink Floyd got all possible sense of beauty and perfection and so was given birth to ECHOES...
@tttrrr123123 HI there :) It's called "Remember That Nigh" David Gilmour Live at Royal Albert Hall......and it's a two disc DVD. Well, worth what ever the price is. HIGHLY recommend it :)

You gotta just love the CLIMAX of this song and the emotional release of someone caught in the mythological abyss between time and places.
This one is truly Gilmour's and Wright's piece de résistance!
It's really their song. And what is sad is that it cannot be played again ... but it has been perfectly timecapsuled with this video (and Gdansk).
The Pompei version was raw and just slightly slower.
But the Royal Albert Hall version is legendary also. Utter refinement, and a poetic ending
