Are you going to tell me that Vai was not a serious musician?
Vai wasn't a real member of WS,he's a musical PHENOM but don't act like he thought Whitesnake was anything more than 4 chord, 4/4 meat & potato rock w/great guitar solos.All 80's metal bands had lead players that could shred.The point is other than "Lead Guitarists" & the occasional singer most 80's bands had average or below average drummers & bass players & wrote 4 chord songs in 4/4 time sigs. wow what a bunch of pretentious Guitar Center-type wannabe musicnas yapping outtheir butts. jani lane/warrant wrote GREAT songs, i meant GREAT fucking songs.
there's 100's of good/accomplished guitar players in every tonw/every corner/every music store, big whoop.
great songwriters? rarer than hen's teeth. it's hard hard hard fucking work (writing 100's of songs, try 100 before you can even call yourself one). and in my opinon Jani (lane) was the ONLY great one of the 80's! ha!

i agree with u about the Via, EVH, nuno stuff but i always say untill ur more successful then warrant you cant knock them... I dont mind some warrant tracks but im a Bon Jovi fan first....but a warrant fan and a tool fan will never see eye to eye on most music related stuff... personally im not a tool fan or a perfect circle fan and i actually came around to appreciate music i never thought i would such as prince and old school rap... just never got the tool thing

There are people here that will go heel to toe on the debate of "musicianship" in GnR versus the other bands mentioned here (Skid Row, poison, Motley crue etc..) ...And to say Whitesnake was not a serious band, coverdale has one of the most influential rock voices in history (Deep Purple) not to mention Vai was a guitar player with white snake in the late 80's. Are you going to tell me that Vai was not a serious musician?

Vai wasn't a real member of WS,he's a musical PHENOM but don't act like he thought Whitesnake was anything more than 4 chord, 4/4 meat & potato rock w/great guitar solos.All 80's metal bands had lead players that could shred.The point is other than "Lead Guitarists" & the occasional singer most 80's bands had average or below average drummers & bass players & wrote 4 chord songs in 4/4 time sigs. Far from technical & I can't think of a great singer in 20yrs that lists Coverdale as an influence!

Furthermore, you seem to sit on a high horse about your own taste in music. Before you get on my case, I'm a fellow musician and am able to admire the singing and playing in your band. However after giving your band a listen I found nothing but a cookie cutter music, I hear your influences but I don't hear anything memorable.

That's just the thing...if they hadn't teased their hair and hadn't worn any make-up, but played the same songs, you'd give them the respect they deserved. Oh, and I like Tool, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd....just cause I like Warrant, it doesn't mean that my musical tastes are limited to hard rock. What???Yeah I'll give you GNR is a great band, but Skid Row?? Poison?? I mean don't get me wrong I loved them as a kid, shit I was a kid in the late 80's & Poison was my favorite band but no1 takes any of those bands serious from a musician stand point! You can think that your band is the shit, but proof is in the music. An area that you fail in ..CONSIDERABLY. Doesn't matter how well you play an instrument, if you can't make it exciting for someone to listen to or watch..You've got nothing but a bag full of tricks that nobody cares about. Bands like Warrant etc..we part of a Money making machine that flooded the market with bands just like them. Maybe they weren't at the top of their heap, but they put on good live shows
