So even Daschles tax problem somehow works its way back to a discussion about Bush? By the way, not only did Daschle fail to declare the gift tax on the limo use, he also failed to declare a substantial amount of income as a consultant. The ladies failed to mention that. As far as it being refreshing to hear a president admit he screwed up how refreshing will it be the 10th time you hear it? Also, did Obama screw up with Geithner, Richardson and Killiefer? I didnt hear him admit that.

The tax issue is beside the point and certainly not a major "screwup" the bigger picture here is the fact that finally a sitting US president can finally admit to a mistake, and that is what is important. I think you are looking in the wrong direction.

The bigger issue to you then is the ability of the president to admit a mistake. Do you put this higher in importance than his ability to be a good executive? Because I thought he was elected to be chief executive not chief apologist. By the way is it asking too much for the head of the IRS to pay his taxes? Seems major to me. Lastly if the president admits Daschles appointment was a mistake why does he not rectify the "screw-up" (his term) of choosing Geithner who also cheated on his taxes.

It's aready been clear that is was a mistake..you keep implying tax avasion, which is not the case. What is the fuss about? He stepped down Obama cited a mistake and we have moved on, so big deal. It's does not even come close to the atrocities and crimes that Bush commited without even offering one single apology and admitting a single mistake...I'm proud of Obama!

An effective administrator has to get things right. Obviously admitting a mistake is not wrong but if Obama is sincerely he screwed-up with Daschle, than he should ask Geithner to resign as well. If it is not a mistake to appoint tax evaders (that is what they call people who fail to pay their taxes on-time) than what mistake is he admitting to? By the way how is Obamas stimulus proposal going to affect the deficit you seem so concerned about?
