ahahahaha i love haters. way to be critical of a young vocal student taking on an aria that most 30 and over (which is when the voice has reached its peak in developemnt)will never be able to perform with as much charisma and beauty... obviously this is a student recital (a work in progress) imagine what this will sound like in ten years...i hate those who criticize art...if you were a TRUE lover of music you would appreciate ALL instead of pinpointing nonsense...
recit is way overdone, needs to go about a quarter of the speed through the entire piece, she's trying to imitate and incorporate too many diva's who sing this piece. quite off the breath throughout, but some interesting phrase choices which made it unique at times. great skill, but let's hear your voice.
if you can't hear her voice in this, you may have hearing problems. This is bel canto singing. The purpose of this era is to show off the technique of the singer. Her tone is gorgeous, that is clear. And lets not forget she is 22 andn my opinion she sings this aria better than many divas who try their hand at it. Writing exactly what is written is perfectly appropriate for Mozart, Wagner and Verdi, but Rossini, Donizetti and Bellini wanted the singer to take their ideas and run with it.
and as far as copying all of the other divas who sing this, i don't know know which divas sing a C7 or do the beautiful ornamentation starting at :40 through :58. This girl has the technique, the range, the voice the expression and most of all the comfort. What an exciting place to be as a young singer!!!! not only the vocal maturity, but the technique to match!!!!
amazing. my toes = curling. effie, and everyone else for the record, the super-star note is at 2:44 exactly. i replayed it about a dozen times, and after i post, will play it a couple times more. i'd like to say "i can't believe those notes coming out of your mouth..." but, actually, i do. :)
