  • What screen grabbe software did you use?

  • I love lamp

  • see my movies for answers

  • nobody talks to you dont take it personally gotcha

  • wow that realy is awesome ... where can i find this software?....

and screw these people.... the lamp is functional right? lol

  • @R2daE01 stellarium dotorg! google it man

  • hate people with mustache

  • @skimboley i hope you get cancer of the sphincter.

  • Wow this is just what I need! I've been looking planetaium software for weeks and I might have just found it! Free you say? It's just too good to be true:D

  • Tony Darnell you are like my IDOL on You Tube. I loved and watched all your videos.. the "Hubble Deep Field" is my favorite I watched it more than 20 times.. Thank you.

  • Stellarium-Cool 4 observation info! Use it few months and great sky map in every place on earth

  • hahaha funny ending that was pretty funny

    cool video dude

  • funny ending to an educational and entertaining video.

    thanks for sharing!

  • had to watch until 6 minutes in to get the link, you should put a link to the download in the desciption

  • at

    4:14

You first say Saturn, but then say Jupiter...

Just a small mistake you could make annotations correcting.

  • God said: I'm alpha and omega...there was nothing before of Me and there will no nothing after of Me...so He was here before anything was created..Looking up to universe at night, I think myself: why are we here? maybe to give glory to the greta creator...sorry for my english

  • Amen kid he made a grand job didn't he , as far i can say on here when this universe was made it was long before this earth was even though of so hey give glory to the one who made it all.

    :)

  • considering a lightyear is about 6 trillion miles...

  • on one of your video's you mention an object as being 47billion light years away.this is a mistake as the universe is only approx 13.7 billion years old.

  • light years measure distance not time.

The age of the universe is 13.7 billion earth years, the diameter of the observable universe is at least 93 billion light years.

  • JAYONNE ???

Lady? Don't mix time with space!!!! :)

47 billion light years is the distance....

13.7 billions years is the time life been here.... years and light years are two different things... got it maam?

  • no no, its not correct, i mean we have to think about WHO we call gods, i mean, here some ancient kings were known as gods, who knows, if there was some superior race here long ago and we might have called them gods.

  • So is the moon made of cheese or what?

  • lol yes sir

  • you're sweet thank you for sharing..

  • Your mother spits and swallows

    monkeysonaplane

  • Are you fucking stupid, Felixq78 you little bitch? Maybe because that's astronomy is all about?? If you don't like it, go somewhere else to flame, you little motherfucking bitch. We don't want your shit in here, so shut up and go fuck yourself.

  • u have the software becose some people looked at the sky.

  • yeah Felix, youre really stupid.

    bythe way thanx Mr tdarnell.

  • yes thx Bibliosca , i believe in god too but its actually kind of stupid to claim to know why is the universe made and say anything about your surroundings without any proof is just stupid..think about it..if there is a God there must be more gods right??? The bible says that god is in human form- and thinking that the universe is literally too big to comprehend there must be more inelegance in it so that makes more than 1 civilization and that makes more then 1 god right? But what do i know..

  • i don't ne thing against ne one or god, but, some times i wonder. how did god come to life?

  • appearantly he's been around forever... whatever the hell forever is

  • Well in the Bible God says he is the one true God

    not the only god

  • soo... there are other gods?

  • yes but they are not the one true God worthy of your worship

  • Demipimp, this is true, from what I understand it's because in that time monolatrism was dominant, and revelation tries to ease people into monotheism and eventually specific beliefs. I believe that verse or whatever it is was aimed more towards people of the time. Not christian or anything, just saying

  • All of the religious nuts voted you down because they cant just accept the truth, sad really. thnx for sharing

  • Try Celestia also, I had even more fun with it.

  • Super duper cool!

  • dude that has to do with distance and the earths tilt/spin. You realize that venus and saturn are millions upon millions of miles apart right? I'm not saying all the planets are are on the same orbital plane.

kind of like how the moon and sun go up and then down.....they make like a big upside "u" shape through the sky as the earth rotates.

  • this video proves that all planets orbit in diferent directions around the sun e.g. venus looks like it is goin down but saturn looks like it is going right!

  • Does anyone know of any good planetary videos?

  • just watched this video for the first time...i'll be watchin' more! thx for posting them. i just downloaded the stellarium, and it's great! i am a film/video producer and chess teacher by profession, and keep the lamp! :) -- bruce

  • Love your vids :) Learned so much- Keep it up Tony Darnell

  • zalalo is the only one speaking sense the rest you are morons you dont know science so dont comment on it

  • Gooed video.

    And lamp ;)

  • Your the best. I bet you wouldn't expect to see guys like me in your class. Thanks

  • you ar a professional i think :)il watch all of your videos :) bye

  • Cool and funny.

  • The powers of planets controling human intelligence. Thats why when you do magic you have to sink forward and upsidedown. funny.

  • Its a sign.

  • He's not saying the two objects are actually getting closer to each other in space, just that they get closer to each other in appearance from our point of view. Naturally they'll stay the same size relative to each other. He's not saying Saturn and Venus are actually getting closer to each other.

  • ok thanks, but if you see the video you can see that everything is moving that is part of the camera, no planet is moving that much not in 1.000 years hahahahha

  • Ummmm. Planets move that much over just a few days. From one night to the next planets are in different positions. What exactly are you talking about?

  • Actually, planets move pretty damn fast.

  • wouldnt oyu also have to think about our movement possible going in the opposite direction from the original view point so it looks like it is going twice as far as it actually is?

  • It's their revolution you stupid idiot. The planets have different revolution speeds, along with ours, that makes it seem like they're getting closer. I hate ignorant kids like you.

  • hahahha, how can you prove it?

    they are just theory

  • Okay, you're saying planets bounce all over the universe whenever they want to?

  • like your vids darnell

    thanks!!!

  • I like this guy :D thanks 4 info about the Stellarium.... it's realy wicked ;) keep up the good work ;)

  • ur a dude... ta

  • stellarium is cool, iam using it for a while and it great. by the way, the lamp is awsome ;)

  • LOL oh my gosh I haven't laughed so hard in a long time, but the lamp commentary just CRACKED me up!!! Anyway.....as far as your video-- it was really interesting and i don't even know a THING about astrology. Thank you for your knowledge and fun fun videos.

  • stellarium is awesome but its incredibly confusing.

  • damn, i thought it would be a cool lamp from the 1970s >:( lol just kidding ^^

  • lol @ the lamp :P

  • haha i love ur vids man! =D keep up =D

  • haha nice ending :)

  • thanks for letting me know about Stellarium, never knew it even existed =)

  • Hello Spacefans, i love it.

    Very cool videos. 5stars

  • u r a funny guy,haha..love the video myself..

    keep doing more..

  • Dude, i want more videos from you! i love your videos!

  • Wow how do I get that software. Great job

  • he tells you like 5 times how to get it...

  • bit slow eh ??

  • Get rid of the light.

  • cool`

  • hey how 2 use the telescope in stellarium

  • do you know how to get out of earth?

  • hey tony, you misspoke and said moons of Jupiter instead of Saturn at one point, but this was great. I saw this and treated my friends to this myself a year ago.

  • I'm ignorant but... aren't those planet having a perpendicular orbit? So, am I figuring it out in a wrong way?

  • gtapsyco, u r joking right?

  • where can i get the program and can i get it for free?

  • thanks Ive downloaded the program..

  • his voice is like a pilot on an airplane.

  • haha

  • great video and the end made me laugh, thanks for the program!

  • Thank you, the Stellarium rulz!

  • Bien, t'es sympa !

  • I JUST CAME IN TO SAY; THANK YOU!!!

THE FREEWARE IS VERY GOOD AND ALSO IN GERMAN LANGUAGE.

thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you,....

  • 4:23 "moons of Jupiter"? ;)

  • are you serious?

  • Cool and funny. 5/5

  • genius..that's why you did that :-P

  • This is very interesting, one night when I saw the moon it had a large glistening ring around it. What would that be called, I heard it was on the news as well.

  • its called a halo

  • Thanks! It was a pretty outstanding question that I didn't have time to look up.

  • I think its a solar halo around the moon called a lunar halo.

  • I have a problem, my stellarium goes very slow.

    How can I fix it?

  • You're such a cool guy :)

    Keep it up Tony.

  • intresting, informative and funny. Thx for sharing

    5 stars from me

  • Great stuff as always. I'll check out the software.

Can you talk about making your own reflector and the polishing of the mirror and all the fun stuff that goes into the project.

Kids love that kinda of stuff.

    Thanks

  • I used Stellarium to plot some points of interest while watching the Perseids earlier this month. Unlucky for me, stargazing is a recent rekindled interest and after 15 years of inactivity my old telescope wasn't cooperating. Then it got cloudy.

Anyway, awesome program. I absolutely love it.

"I wish I hadn't done that. Now I look unprofessional." LOL! No worries, it's all in good fun.

Keep em coming, my friend. I can't get enough.

  • i e stellarium on my computer to

  • btw your vids are great

  • i have stellarium on my computer it great

  • thanks man I love your videos, they are so informative <3

  • Thanks, Tony! I haven't played with it much yet but I never thought I'd find something like this for free! Since I can't afford to buy something like Starry Night right now, this is a great substitute. Keep it up!

  • you have no idea how big space really is it just goes on foreever and the universe expands every second alfrunk

  • Can someone else confirm this "possible bug" in Stellarium ver. 9.0?

Click on any nebula or non-stellar object. hit the space bar (lock on), then page-up (to zoom) get real close (so you can see the object) then hit the "j" key twice, then hold the key for a few sec.

    Let me know what happens.

  • I doubt that you will ever make a video as great as your first one, but if you want to do something that will be liked by people, who are not astronomy nerds try putting images from the Hubble Telescope.

  • it's KNOWLEDGE,you just need to have the imagination!

you can't be choosy about knowledge...infact if we get used to it then so will everyone...

  • honestly this video was boring as hell, Tony! You have a sense of humour I like but that's not enough for a good video.

  • Great video!

Your videos are raising my interest in our astronomy.

  • Great! Glad you are back, it has been a very long wait.

  • Tony i have a question, 1 ) do you think photon has gravity? 2.) do you think gravity radiates?

    thanks

  • Ive been waiting so long for another video!!! Very entertaining, hope to see more videos in the future.

  • yay! you're finally back!

    love the vid

  • Finally you done another video, more please ! :P

  • thanks for the amazing videos :)

  • I like the lump and the effect of the light ;) I don't have a telescope and live in Madrid (Spain) with too much light in the night. I can't travel to another place to see this alignment so I'm gratefull for being able to see at least your video and explanation. Thank you very much. ¿Can you tell me if we can see this alignment from Spain? Thanks again ^_^

  • Wow, thanks!

  • A long time between drinks Tony - This programme is truly great, it is a testament to the best of open source just how well it can work. All who have worked on it need to be congratulated. Thanks for sharing this.

  • thats pretty handy to do, my lx200r thanks you

  • Thanks man, good to see ya back.

I must get that Stellarium and have a play around :)

    cheers

  • It's been so long! The distance between me and the stars have grown :(

  • cool,thanks

  • Where've you been, man?! Been waitin' frickin' forever for another video! Good stuff! Thanks!

  • btw, to download and install on ubuntu linux:

    sudo apt-get install stellarium

    hehe :)

  • cool!

I notice that you said the program is "freeware" instead of "free software"

    There is a big difference!

  • Hey tony it's really great to have you back, where have you been?,BTW do you actually know when Mars will appear in the Nightsky?and if it will be clear enough to see with a 500x telescope?,Thanks.

  • yay tony is back!!

  • Thanks for the information about the alignment and the software. Both look fantastic:-)

Only downside is my wife will be trying to work out what the alignment means for Cancerians:-(

<sigh> I have tried to tell her that the goldfish in the bowl has a more profound gravitational, elecromagnetic and psycological effect on her than the alignment of two distant planets but it does no good.

  • Stellarium is amazing, I took my laptop out side and looked at stars and planets. When I did it though only Saturn and Jupiter could be seen. But I live in a rural enough place so I can see the milkyway, its amazing man. Though I'm not an Astronomy Buff, I just do it for fun.

  • where have you been Tony? this is so great. welcome back

  • Sorry, I know it's been a while. Thanks for staying with me. These vids aren't trivial to make so I don't always have the time to do this, I've been doing good just to stay current on my written blog posts.

    Thanks so much for watching!

  • welcome back... thanks for the heads up.

  • Thanks for sticking with me, sorry it's been so long.

  • cool I'll be sneeking up on the apartment roof sat. its a flat roof. only view of west. thanx Tony.

  • Thanks for the heads up on the program! Downloading now. No worries at the end. You're the coolest unprofessional astronomer I know! :D

  • LOL. Thanks, I think.

  • welcome back tony looking forward to see more videos. i gonna try the new version of stellarium.

  • i tried stellarium last year but i didn't like that i couldn't use programs in other windows. i'm interested to see this version ... downloading now. thanks!

  • downloaded stellarium earlier in the week. The closest station to me in Ireland seems to be Paris, France.

  • Very nice Tony :)

Welcome back & Keep it up

  • playlisted

  • that was great.

Looks like a really good program.

  • welcome back!
