  • the guy is a badass on so many levels - flared out pants, metal rimmed glasses, beard - and he was a prodigious musician too. Looks 40 here, when in fact he was only 24!

  • 2:35 is somewhat the fastest thing I ever heard, outside the traditional shred world.

  • Holy shit! Yes he's awesome! I'm a long-time RTF fan but this is some of the toughest, and coolest, grooves I've ever heard him do.

  • Insanely cool vintage Di Meola!

  • the keyboardist is amazing

  • really very cool, great guitarist, I knew his name but have never heard him, great!

  • 3:25 Al jackin' off with the drumsticks LOL

  • Saw Al with RTF in 1979 and still have this di meola LP in great shape

    .

  • @hartles99him Damn must have been awesome, I wasn't even a thought yet haha

  • Wow, my uncle has great music taste, and influences my musical taste quite a bit (Yes, King Crimson, Rush, Jethro Tull, etc.), and he just showed me this and I am amazed.......Al Di Meola is amazing as far as I've seen! I play guitar as well, and he completely dominates the instrument as far as I've seen....

  • Bassplayer = BEAST

  • Shredd King..!

  • I couldn't stop smiling the whole time.

  • man al is the best by far you can hear it the command on the guitar wow hes incontrol of it all

  • Awsome stage presence! Dat white boy got groove!

  • @MikeMzeski Spanish he's Spanish

  • @boyboyduff Who cares lets just enjoy the music. Deal?

  • @boyboyduff Actually, he's from New Jersey.

  • @boyboyduff Jersey, he's from Jersey.

  • he looks so different here..surely 70s..nice..

  • I feel like If iwas on drugs I would appreciate the camera effcts so much more AHH the seventies

  • as fast as yngwie, before yngwie...amazing, jazz rules!

  • @theripper013ok apples and oranges, classical and jazz, if you have no respect for yngwie just put down the guitar now...

  • @RhoadsFan9

no matters, anyway i respect and admire yngwie

  • thanks for sharing... amazing

  • this is BEAST

  • Holy fucking shit, how can this video have only 28 000 views????? Should have 200 000 000 billion views. Music genius at its best.

  • what's the bass players name?

  • absolutly awesome. love the bell bottoms and the way al turns into a keith richards for a few seconds after rwtdonash....brillient

  • is that mike gordon's dad on bass?

  • awesome video, anyone know where i can find a live performance of land of the midnight sun?

  • awesome... great job on the vid itself too !

  • phenomenal!

  • Thank you so much for the upload!! Love to see the vintage Dimeola. If anyone knows or has 'Suite Golden Dawn' live please let me know. That would be such a bitch'n song live.

  • 6:44.... the *one* freakin' part every guitarist watching this wants to see, and what's the camera man doing? focusing the camera on DiMeola's face. Big FAIL to the cameraman. On a lighter note - DiMeola rocks!

  • Amazing!

  • shred with passion, timing and heart...i miss this album and those days when musicianship meant something...love al

  • this fucking song......I love it, this is the only video on youtube with no dislikes...who can dislike this????

  • nice, i wish Al did more jazz shredding

  • kind of silly to put JJF at the end, no?

  • 2:50 fuck yyea

  • Wow !!! So glad you posted this. This is vintage Al at the height of his impact.

    LOVE IT !! Thank you.

  • Di Meola back in the day. He looks straight off the album cover. He plays with a really youthful charisma here.

  • My main and most important influence, gracias Al!!♫♫☼☺

  • i don't get these camera men/ were they smoking carburator cleaner or something?

oh look lets film his facial expressions in the middle of a solo! some weird

avante garde film. this ain't the 60's! al's tone is nice. tim landers badass bass. philippe saisse too!

  • Yep i learned a few tricks from Mr AL DiMeola Go listen to MY MUSIC at SEQUENCE dot Net

  • al di meola rocks almost as much as the bass players boots

  • copacetic kerfuffle. ftw!

  • Nice transition from guitar to drums. Amazing playing.

  • One thing Di Meola does, that I don't hear from all the shredders is Di Meola burns IN TIME, the others just seem to shred without a thought to the rhythm. When Al kicks in the afterburner, it's in time, with accents and rests. It's something a musician would notice but not usually someone who doesn't play.

  • @nowandzen7 You are absolutely right, he turns & burns in time without leaving out the accents & rests, which for me makes it. The Tour De Force Live Album nailed it for me way back in '82-'83 (I wore out the original "LP"). Then I recently find Al on the cover of Guitar Player for July 2008....

  • @nowandzen7 so true!!!!

  • 330 never seen al di meola playin the drums

  • Di Meola Invented shredding himself, he has also won more awards than any other guitar player in the world. My ultimate favorite!!

  • Al di is god.

  • The must be the Spledido Hotel Tour and band. Awesome!

  • Holy guitar tone Batman!

  • Just saw Al play in Natick, Massachusetts with World Sinfonia, if you can believe it. It was a tiny arts club that I never even heard of. Absolutely amazing. I brought my kids. All they could say was "Oh My GOD!"

  • Definitely one of his best!

  • Name an '80s shredder who could pull this off.

  • @bej144 In fact,name a 70s play who could pull this off

  • @bej144 Was Michael Angelo In the 80s? An equal guitar player is Yngwie out of the 80s but else - no

  • @bej144 ....yngwie, vai, satriani....van halen for that matter..they are all great, so who cares?al is certainly in a class all his own, but 90% of the world listens to crap music,so how about picking on them instead of the 80's shredders..who for the most part are pretty great too My top 10 guitarists are... (NOT ranked in order, just the top ten) Al Dimeola Allan Holdsworth Frank Zappa Steve Vai John Petrucci Jeff Loomis Yngwie Malmsteen Jimi Hendrix Jimmy Page Myself
  • Thats how you do it !

  • el mejor al di meola!!!!

una pieza de el jazz fusion de la humanidad

  • Al has amazing precision
