  • i am an huge G1 fan and this dose make me happy oh so happy but i do see why they went with the new look cuz they are living beings and they need more fluid looking bodies

  • Wait a minute! This can't be real! It's neither a chev nor a gm, michael bay won't approve! lol

  • @iammrprince

This comment forced me to notice a little detail on the back of Sideswipe that I hadn't seen before; he IS a Chevy. It's legit! *lol*

  • @Bobzeaux NOOO!!!! lol

  • @iammrprince No no, that's a GOOD thing. Bay can whore himself out to Chevy AND be true to the fans at the same time. ;D

  • I like it, brings back memories. I never liked the horrors of Bayformers, they weren't never the real deal, but to each their own.

  • its g1 sideswipe

  • Everyone here in favor of the new movies .....needs a reality check. That's motherfuckin bionicle shit...not Transformers. And I think in reality...a robot would not be composed of 50000 small joints like in the movie.

  • Of course Bay likes saying that they look the way they do because it makes physical sense, that ever single piece fits together perfectly in both modes. And then he gives us the Pretender chick in Bayformer$ 2. Yyyyyyeah, because THAT looks like it would work in the real world, doesn't it? ;P

  • @hivelocity100 shut up tf hater

  • wow you added sounds soo amazing

  • Wow. You don't know how to read.

  • Thos is how Transformers "THE MOVIE" robot´s has to look like!!! More simple, just like the cartoons!!!!

MICHAEY BAY.... I HATE YOU!!!! ehhehheheh

  • Star Wars are made in the late 70s duh, yeah the modern Star Wars films are still look the same as the old films cause they are meant to be connected to it's storyline.

  • In my opinion, Bay's designs has a better presentation of alien robots than in G1 or in this video which is look like a man-built and toy looking robots(G1 designs are heavily borrowed from a japanese toys which they were originally a man operated robots). Afterall, transformers are aliens right?

Alien robots that looks like giant toys in the live action movie? That sounds so childish.

  • The Star Wars saga takes place in a galaxy far, far away, yet that all looks like something we Earthlings might create/live in in the not-too-distant future.

Transformers ARE aliens, but so are Klingons and Vulcans.

Batman would look like a dope if you took his original 1939 look and applied it literally to film. But even if you update him, does that mean you HAVE to discard the iconic pointy-eared cowl, scalloped cape, utility belt, and tragic backstory that defined his character? :P

  • But Bay's Transformers are totally different TF storyline and it's no way connected to G1 storyline(like the RiD, Armada, and Energon series)so it's very natural to make changes especially the looks of the robots and since it was set in 'reality' and not in a cartoon or anime they should be look more realistic and more convincing that they were indeed aliens.

Yeah Klingons and Vulcans are aliens but have you seen any single one of them that looks like a man-built/toy looking robots?

  • @shadowshinobi06 Are you stupid? Ok firslty if you're gonna make a live action version of something you do it how it was you don't make your vision of it that's not fair to fans. Second the point of transformers was they looked human and acted human. Why does nobody understand the transformers?

  • @Rampagelil They don't understand transformers, because they're children....let them grow up a little and maybe we'll see improvement.

  • @hivelocity100 Haha hopefully.

  • "does that mean you HAVE to discard the iconic pointy-eared cowl, scalloped cape, utility belt, and tragic backstory that defined his character? :P"

Are you blind? Prime in the movie still has his iconic look since G1, he still transform into truck, he still has his trademark colors and his head still looks like Prime(in battle mask mode). But there's one thing that added in the movie version, a BADASS look which is sounds manly and cool.

  • @shadowshinobi06 Moron they aren't supposed to look like aliens the whole point of them was that they looked human and they had feelings, they weren't supposed to be anything like in the movies, that you people keep saying is good honestly people who like the movies aren't transformers fans because if you liked that you didn't understand transformers in the first place.

  • Maybe some Japanese film makers will hire Michael Smith and make a better Transformer movie that's truer to the source.

  • Nope. That's what I'M going to do. >:D

  • You just put sound in it..

  • And delayed the reaction to the transformation, which has often been criticized for happening too quickly.

  • Hey this was pretty good. You should make more.

  • Quite good, but likely not viable for a number of reasons.

it would be nice to see how movie using designs like these would pan out.

Personally i rather enjoy the bayformers.

  • I'll tell you this much: it's more realistic on every level, more true to what the Transformers have always been (G1 to present), and significantly less expensive. Apparently Bay wanted more TF involvement in the movie, but instead he threw it under the bus for a needlessly more complicated look, and a larger and ultimately useless human cast.

  • I totally agree with Bobzeaux. The Bayformers are far too complex and fast-moving to enjoy what you're seeing, or for that matter even comprehend it. It's just a lot of flashy stuff going on that your eyes can't interpret the first time. I had to watch the 2007 movie multiple times to figure out what was going on in each battle scene, and I'm still confused about some of them. All in all, it's a huge waste of time and money to create something that the viewer never actually gets to enjoy.

  • Here's MY biggest confusion; what's the point of having the Autobots if the humans are perfectly capable of destroying the Decepticons themselves? Maybe I miscounted, but the only Con casualties on the hands of Bots that I count is 2 (Bonecrusher and Brawl), and the rest were either destroyed by the humans or they disappeared from the cutting room floor.

  • Hah, did you play the game? It's by far the worst video game I've ever played. I realized after seeing Spiderman II's game that Activision makes the SAME EXACT

GAME for every movie license, but changes the graphic skins around so you THINK it's a new game. Anyway what kills me is the way you defeat bosses is by throwing things like fences and umbrellas at them. You can't shoot any of the robots because they all have shields. So why do you have a GUN????

  • "Activision makes the SAME EXACT

    GAME for every movie license"

If that were the case, the B$ game would actually be fun and enjoyable. I STILL can't put down Spider-Man 2. *lol*

If I want to play a Transformers game, I'll just pop in Beast Wars for PS1. >:D

  • YEAH Bay could have used Binaltech designs for the robots. But he chose to make the robots more Ninja and Alien like, because before he was approached to do TF, he wanted to make an alien monster movie. So he liked that skeletal alien look which looks too complicated. When the robots fight, I can't tell what is happening or what the arm or hand is doing.

  • 0:25 is cool

  • I thought Sideswipe was a Lamborghini?

  • That's why I said "most probably" in the introduction. In robot mode it's a spitting image of Sideswipe, but the car mode's all off. WHO IS HE????? O_O *lol*

  • lol, that's true. :)

  • Now that was hot right right there..I liked those five seconds almost better than the whole "Transformers" movie,LOL..

    Very,very nice work.

  • All I did was a little editorial tweeking and add the sound effects. You should contact Michael Smith (the original animator) and tell HIM how awesome you think this is. :)

  • Oh no no no, you MUST watch Bayformer$! If you're going to hate something, you need to have actually experienced it firsthand so you don't just look like some stupid ranting fanboy. Trust me. Watch the movie, THEN you'll have more reason to despise it than just its horrible art direction.

If you can, get yourself the 2-disc DVD which even FURTHER explains how full of crap Bay is.

  • lol if he watched all that he had a few hours of wanting to kill himself!. i still havnt seen all the extras. i HAD to turn it off.

i saw 5 min of the movie...and it still gives me the urge to run for the hills!

  • i mean i saw 5 min again the other day.

    urgh!

  • I just wish that my watching all of the DVD extra goodies would help improve my opinion about the movie. <:(

  • HASBRO DIDN'T "CREATE the original Transformers...TAKARA of JAPAN did! Hasbro only bought the U.S. toy license much like MATCHBOX bought the U.S. toy license for VOLTRON.

So TAKARA SHOULD have been the ones hired to do the redesigns if at all, instead on some no name U.S. artist that has nothing to do with the real Transformers.

Same crap happened with Godzilla 98...

  • *sigh* Takara... THEY know how to handle Transformers! <:)

  • Devilbat

Takara invented the designs and MARVEL COMICS writer Bob Budiansky created the universe. did he get a say in the movie? did he write the movie? did Bay have a talk with the TF creator? was he credited? was he even named on the Bayformer$ dvd? no to all! this Stan Lee of Transformers is a big unknown even to some of the most die hard fans. and here we have Hasbro telling everyone THEY created Optimus Prime and Megatron!

bayformer$ has 99.99% nothing t do with TF save some names.

  • This "crap" actually looks like a robot, and the Bayformers look even more Photoshop-made than this.

"who says they disregarded the original iconography of the characters??"

...Are you serious? Just LOOK that them! O_o Prime covered in flames? Starscream looking like chicken-legged, spider-faced gorilla? Bumblebee not being the smallest Autobot? Except for Prime (almost), everyone is COMPLETELY unrecognizable.

Why should I get over a movie as retarded and insulting as this?

  • they could've used that sound for all the transformations in the movie

  • What I hate is how they only used the classic transformation sound twice in the whole movie. Either use it consistently, or don't use it at all.

"THERE! I put in the classic sound effect! Now leave me alone so I can make the movie that I wanna make!!! >:P" says Bay from the editing room.

  • Fuck CGI.

  • Very nice! Of course, this is a demo and the art is not completely polished, but it would look much better in the end than what Michael Bay did. BTW, do you know what was responsible (head of the art department) for the incredible lousy Bay movie?

  • As to my understanding, Ben Procter was head of the movie's art department. What's frustrating about that is that Procter (like Michael Smith here) seemed to have a generally good idea of what the TFs were supposed to be, but Bay and the production designer pushed him into designing the... THINGS we got in the movie. :S

  • Way better than the Bay movie... Ugh Assface (Bumblebee) and VaginaTron (Megatron).

Seriously the only two Transformer anyone could recongized if they weren't told who was who were Optimus Prime and Jazz.

  • Vaginatron... *lol* You could recognize Jazz? I'm impressed. :P

  • god it looks so....cheesy

  • No. It looks like a TRANSFORMER, something you simply cannot say about the things in Bay's movie. :P

  • IT LOOKS LIKE A TRANSFORMER TOY! Not a machine! it looks dated 80's

  • i agree. im glad they redesigned them for the movie. they look more up-to-date and the special effects were superb. this shit here looks like a giant lego toy with the boxy shape and whatnot.

plus the movie wouldnt have done nearly as good as it did in the the box office had they used these old ass 20+ year old designs.

NEW AGE, NEW TIME, NEW DESIGNS...GET OVER IT.

  • Up-to-date means looking like a humanoid pile of shiny garbage?

Look at the rest of Micheal Smith's work. HIS special effects are just as superb as anything ILM could do.

This is more or less what every TF incarnation has looked like for 25 years. Why is the Bionicle look superior to the Lego look?

Perhaps the movie would do better, perhaps not. It sure as hell would be of higher quality either way.

NEW AGE, NEW TIME, NO EXCUSE TO DISREGARD THE ORIGINAL ICONOGRAPHY... DON'T TURN YOUR BRAIN OFF.

  • And what the fuck is with giving Prime lips? If that's a "new age" design, then new age is as cheesy as gay shit.

  • Bay talks about how restrictive the budget was for the movie. How big of a shortcut would it have been to have Prime just wear his face mask throughout the whole movie? :P Or even give them liquid metal (or just shiny rubber) faces. They're advanced alien technology, but not advanced enough to have any "skin"?

  • Just cant beat the old G1 transformers, they just so simple with facial expesions. yeah it look like Sideswipe, he probley asking where his bro sunstreaker is XD

  • If Bay so wanted the camero in the movie, SUNSTREAKER is the character he should have given it to. <:P

Generally, doesn't EVERY piece of sophisticated machinery look better in a simplistic package? *lol*

  • Awesome!

Wish they used such simplistic and geometric designs in the movie.

  • wow pretty cool! good job
