  • Hi, I just bought my first sailboat. It is a Pearson. I dont know the exact model and I am trying to find out what it is. Can anyone who knows pearsons help me. It is a 25 foot sloop rig, 1967, and the plaque on the cockpit says hull #6. To me it looks like a Renegade, but I thought all renegades came with inboards. I have a outboard well. Contact me for photos. Any help is appreciated.

  • That is a Pearson Triton for sure. Very nice!

  • Too much sail.

  • The boat is Whisper (previously Alma). Pearson Triton converted to yawl by current owner. Built by Aeromarine in Sausalito CA. 1960. Sails out of Berkeley CA. Nice boat.

  • Well, that's definitely not a Vanguard sail logo, it is a Triton logo and I'm pretty sure Vanguards are not fractionally rigged. Fairly sure that is a Triton but I sail this area lots and have never seen this boat. In fact I have never seen a Triton yawl, but they do exist. Looks like sail #168? Hard to see.

  • Looks to be one of the rare yawl-rigged Pearson Vanguards. Thirty-two feet LOA and designed by Phillip Rhodes.

  • seems like fun haha

  • wow, how many knots did you go ?

  • looks like a lota lota fun + spiritual alignment , only a sailor knows the feeling , they can have their big motor stink boats , thinking , sailin , not stinkin , motorboatin ,nice post *****

  • Wow is that a Triton Yawl? Those are rare.

  • It looks like it is a Triton Yawl, based on looking at a photo on the web.

  • @SailinganFD Is it just me or does the Triton look a little overpowered? Could have done with a smaller jib or another reef in the mainsail, probably more comfortable ride and I would have thought, faster??

  • Raccoon Straits is between Angel Island and Tiburon just inside the Golden Gate in San Francisco Bay. It gets nice wind through there and is fun for racing/chasing.

  • @jonheiner "just inside the Golden Gate"-- well, i wouldn't say that. It's at least a mile from the gate to the west mouth of Raccoon Straits, perhaps 2 miles. Horseshoe Cove is 'just inside the Golden Gate" and Fort Point is "Just inside the Golden Gate," but Raccoon Straits is pretty far from the Golden Gate.

  • beautiful...

but where is the raccoon strait ?...
