I agree that she is a genius. However, I would not call her the only genius that matters. I think that there are other actresses out there who are as good as she is, though not many. Helen Mirren, for example. Interestingly, when I try to think of people who equal her in terms of talent, they are basically all British actors who come to mind. Although, I'm not sure that many people, if anyone, have her ability to play so many different characters.

George Cukor said once about Judy Garland that anyone who can sing in such an emotional way, they have the ability to be a great dramatic actress, while still being funny and vivacious and wonderful, Meryl is the same way, she can be funny, dramatic, emotional, she has never played the same role twice and completely disappears in the role she plays.
