  • This Description is very wrong. Derrygonnelly is in fact in County Fermanagh.

  • Chris is a playing machine indeed, lovely precision playing and great guitar

  • Played music with him in belturbet unbelievable accordion playyer ...

  • Chris... two nice reels and very well played..... sitting here with my paolo soprani trying to pick em up.... lol

  • Christopher Maguire is a wonderful box player and a really modest person. I have videoed him and his sister at a few fleadh and they are a pleasure to listen to and very well mannered with it. I was very disappointed that Chris didn't get the senior accordian title in Cavan this year, I know to me it doesn't make any difference whether you win an All-Ireland title or not, you are still one of the great players in Ireland, and to those ,like me who have enjoyed your playing thank you very much

  • wow ur even amazing at dat age chris and jim u should be on a box tooo

  • county fermanagh. not armagh.

  • he didn't even looked happy! did he even enjoy that?

  • @shinjifox1990 There is a difference in playing with a session where it is okay to make a little mistake, but when you are being recorded or judged at competitions, you really have to put all your concentration at not messing up. The nerves are really high when you are recording for Comhaltas. Only veterans at this music are the ones comfortable enough to smile and relax while recording.

  • @shinjifox1990

He was just a cub at that stage and in front of a camera. So what do you expect. I know Chris and he is one of the best and most relaxed players around. Young and going places

  • he didn't looked happy at all ! did he even enjoy that?

  • Wonderful playing. Up Fermanagh. !!!!

  • I love the first reel. Fine playing my friends!

  • nice rolls. and awesome tunes. i'm dying to get a box like that. is it BC or C#D or something else?

  • amazing talent ,brilliant!

  • Feckin brilliant !!

  • you are a fantastic musician. well done !

  • Tapadh leat !

  • Chirs and all the Maguries are brilliant musicans, as are many talented people from about the Fermanagh area. Just to pointout however, Derrygonnelly is in Couny Fermanagh, not County Armagh. I am proud to be from Derrygonnelly that is so rich in traditional talent such as this.

  • aw ur frm derrygonnelly im from da clogher valley branch in tyrone!

  • he's frm fermanagh!!! cuz a no him im frm clogher valley branch!

  • FERMANAGH LOL !!

  • very well done

  • GO AN SAN!

  • You are brilliant Chris...Playing years myself but no where near you. Keep it up, look forward to seeing you in Tullamore

  • hello, i'm from venezuela south america, i want to know more about this music, wher can i search abaut it?... thanks....

  • if you are interested in Irish music and Celtic music in general, search for Jigs, Reels and Suites, which are the kinds of songs... search for button accordion, fiddle, concertina and whistles and uillean pipes... if u search for those words, you will find irish music everywhere...great musicians are Seamus Ennis and Liam O'Flynn, my favourite... Also Carlos Nunez and Alan Stivell, though not Irish...

  • look up john whelan on button accordian on this....its class he from your neck of the woods and he an all ireland champion!!

    11

  • Jim McGrath, on guitar, is a great button key box player.

  • True naychud (see my post above) This is good too. Very good indeed! *****

  • love you wish i played the squeese box i only got to play the whistle and would love to join you boys one day.

  • Excellent performance , I think the Guitar is such a perfect accompaniment for the accordion , two masters at there craft bravo !

  • Chris - this is first class - you are an excellent young player of the button accordion who will well deservedly take the 2009 champion title back to Co Fermanagh - keep up the good work!

  • Chris is from Derrygonnelly, Co.Fermanagh...not Armagh.

  • one of the best i seen on u tube great job

  • J.S. Bach said, "Playing is easy, all you have to do is play the right note at the right time." Well done, I enjoy your music and playing.

  • I play both piano accordion and button accordion and saying 'any sad sap can play a button accordion' isn't really fair. The button accordion is a deceptively difficult instrument I think. Playing a good selection of reels on the button accordion would 'fairly tighten the dung in ye!' :)

  • I agree, button accordion with it's 2 notes per button is completley different, nowhere near an easy instrument

  • If that accordion is hard to play, I would like to hear him on one that is easy to play.

    Superb!!!!!

  • ZACH EFFRON!!!!!!!!

  • what. the. hell.

  • I've just seen that this guy came second in the all Ireland Fleadh final for button accordion. Well done a cracking young player with a great talent.

  • SHUT UR DISH! LMAO young chrissy maguire!! thats friggin hilarious!! too funny!

  • no its not

  • Ah the accordion isnt that hard to play once you know where the notes are and which ones to push in for and which ones to pull out for! I love playing it!

  • the first tune is actually called:

    the controversial reel

  • Superb! Great talent.

  • The kid is awesome, and his box is a terrific instrument.

  • If I remember my Paolos correctly, this was a mid-late 50's Paolo that still had a wooden interior soundboard like the old gray Paolos. Later models had metal interior soundboards and the instrument lost a lot of depth and subtly. Lovely playing.

  • correct. It has a static handstrap too. All later models are adjustable

  • U would go down well at willie clancy

  • nice played, really good and a fast song :O

  • omw i know him! was that filmed a few years ago? btw derrygonnelly's in fermanagh not armagh

  • accordians look really hard to play

  • They ain't, well depending on how hard song is that you play^_^ But they are just as hard as any intrument

  • i myself play a large boxeen nd 2 b honest, they size of the accordion also has something 2 do w/ how hard it is 2 play
