Plymouth is a shit hole, the city centre is an absolute cesspit and doesn't have anything worthy of going down there, and don't ask me what it was like before drakes circus was built, i dread to think it must of been dire...
"This is the shrine of GREFFLOR, the evil sea monster who comes and will reek havoc on our city every year unless we feed it ten virgins. Which are very difficult to find in Plymouth" hahahahaha your a genius!
This is genius! yes it may be as historically accurate as Pearl Harbour the movie (tho. a tad less dramatic) but I don't think that matters & I work in heritage! There are plenty of serious sources to satisfy even the most patriotic of Plymothians, this is an impressively witty & refreshing alternative! For those who disagree try not to take life too seriously or you'll burst a blood vessel in your eye & be forced to don an eye patch in public which would just look odd oo-arr! Job well done BG!
oh, p.s the granite blocks were removed so we could put street lights up there... If you go again, you shall see 6 black colums with victorian lanterns on, instead of granite blocks
I meant a complete pile of bum, a plie a bum would give the wrong impression entirelty, well, ply a bum if you want to, who am I to point the finger of judgement.
it was a grain silo....but it got knocked down over a year ago now to make way for the west end regeneration.....although with the recession and all tax payers money being spent on Gordon browns cleaner and other mp's broken toilets in westminster think it could be delayed by quite a bit now!!
This was a great video. Our son lived in Plymouth in 2007-08 as he studied at the University from Idaho, USA. He liked Plymouth so well he is returning 2009 for graduate studies.
am comin frm the states to study here for a year...wat do u guys reckon...do u think its the type tht will suit me as an american...lil bit nervous being in a new city...in a new country england lolll...ppsss hot me asap...chilllis
I'm not a Tory. Besides, I'm well aware how inaccurate this video's information is. Why do people take it so seriously? I am the first to admit it's a heap of crap.
@BronzeGriffin pfft steriotypical saying a Tory is posh. The were typically upper class in the early 1900's oh and the labour and lib dem constituencys also have "posh" accents due to them having a majourity high icome families that can afford mostly afford a private or well tutored education.
And i just wana say that I am only 15 and i realise this, so stop being so up yourself mate.
i live in plymouth. plymothian through and through. fantastic city, its just a pity you get caught up in so much traffic. rumour has it that the council have put so many traffic lights,(if you been or live in plymouth, you'll know what i mean) so that they can introduce a congestion charge. remains to be seen though. what intrests me is the network of tunnels in the limestone under the city. theres one that goes to drakes island, which noone is allowed on by the way so leave your trunks at home
I'm hoping to go to Plymouth uni, friend of mine already at Plymouth Uni say the city is great, brill night life, shopping and beaches near by, i cant wait :-)
The cream coloured pub to the left of the picture (the Navy) is NOT where the original Mayflower Steps lurked... they're situated INSIDE The Admiral MacBride pub (in the ladies' toilets), which wasn't even in shot. I know, 'cos I live next door. Would've been a bit more amusin' (as you yourself admit, BronzeGriffin), if had been researched better. Kinda overall irritating in a sub-par pseudo Victor Lewis-Smith stylee. (I'm just miffed you didn't include my house in any of the shots, really!).
all i here is u putting plymouth down bad bb bad buildings or as u put it bloody ugly the worst thini seen was the photo of u. And as for the shot of the dockyard wrong thats the ferry port and stonehouse. and pool for poor people what are u on u twat and saying are people are ugly. and the are not called the pilgrim steps its the mayflower steps wrong again. And whats this about a sea monster u nob. next time do ur home work on plymouth that way u dont look like an idiot in ur vids
Woah there! It's not meant to be taken seriously. Besides I did this ages ago. I've learnt a lot more about Plymouth since then. It's riddled with mistakes and badly presented. No need to get all heated about it.
Nice one mate, im a janner and im stuck in bulgaria looking for videos to show my city in all its glory and i must say its sterling work. if you ever do plymouth again (cant see why you would want to) dont forget bretonside.
'THAT' builing was a grain silo and has now been demolished. To 'chatty' the pilgrim fathers originally left from Southampton NOT Portsmouth! And the bulk of the travellers joined the ship at Plymouth. No way is Pompey having a claim to fame in that story!
That isnt the prince of Wales Hotel, its the Duke of Cornwall (i know the Prince of Wales is the Duke of cornwall but thats besides the point...) My mum told me so, she's been there
yah plymouth was a pile of shit 11yrs ago but times have moved on and plymouth is in middle of a makeover and is a gr8 place to live and gd for students
lmao! that was hilarious, u got alot of stuff wrong and the fotos wernt the best, i mean u culd barely see cap'n jaspers. and mount batten is part of plymouth, ow and that building by the ferry was a grain storage place but now is just there to stop the ferry beeing blown over in the port by strong wind, apart from all that it was a very funny video. thankyou
There was actually two Pilgrim Fathers ships, one of them stopped at Dartmouth and then again at Plymouth and didn't make the voyage across the Atlantic. It was on Melvyn Bragg's Midweek, or Start the Week a couple of weeks ago, and I'm damned if I can remember what the other ship was called.
That building you didnt know about was some sort of wheat mining place and i heard that they are knocking it down. In fact, most of the shabby buildings u saw in the city centre are being knocked down.
